7.2 Maintenance

The safe operation of the welding fumes filter is positively influenced by regular
inspections and maintenance that should be performed at least once a year.
Except for occasional additional setting of the extraction arm joints and possibly
necessary replacement of the filter, the unit is maintenance-free. Additional joint
setting should be performed taking into account the instructions for installation and
maintenance attached to the extraction arm.
Pay attention to warning notices specified in Section 2.5 "Safety Instructions for
Maintenance and Troubleshooting of the Welding Fumes Filter".

7.3 Filter Replacement

The service life of the filter elements depends on the type and quantity of the
separated particles. To optimize the useful life of the main filter and its protection
against coarse particles, it is preceded by a primary filtration mat.
We recommend changing the primary filtration mat regularly according to the volume
of work, e.g. daily or weekly and not waiting until it is completely covered with dust.
Level of saturation of the main filter is monitored electronically.
Increasing filter clogging with dust increases the flow resistance and hence reduces
the unit performance. As soon as the performance drops below the minimum value,
the green LED indicating operation will be extinguished and the red LED will be lit up.
The lighting red LED means that the main filter is saturated and it is necessary to
exchange it. Now it is time to replace the filter.
CAUTION
Cleaning of filter elements is not allowed. This would inevitably damage
the filter medium, hence the filter would loose its function and hazardous
substances would pollute the inhaled air.
Use only genuine replacement filters, because only these are able to guarantee
the necessary degree of separation and are adapted to the filtration unit and the
performance parameters.
Turn the welding fumes filter off using the switch, Pic. 12, pos. 18.
Open the service door, Pic. 14, pos. 4.
Grasp the main filter, Pic. 14, pos. 5.1 by the band on the front side and
pull it partially out of the filtration unit.
Then grasp the filter with your free hand by the side or back wall Remove it from
the unit with both hands and place it on a clean, flat workbench.
Pull the primary filtration mat, Pic. 14, pos. 5.2, together with frame carefully out of
the filtration unit so as to avoid dust whirling as much as possible.
