OPERATION / SHUTDOWN

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

1. Selector valve allows for forward, reverse and neutral
operating positions. Obstructions such as solid material or
foreign debris will prevent free rotation of paddle.
2. Needle valve is used to to adjust the speed of the mixing
paddle.
3. Check hydraulic oil temperature and maintain below
180ºF (82ºC).

SHUTDOWN

Follow the appropriate steps below whenever

shutting down the system.
4.1

DAILY SHUTDOWN

Follow these steps when shutting the unit down
i
for the day.
1. Turn thermostat and pilot light to "OFF" position. Depress
red button on pilot light valve for approximately 10
seconds to shut off the flame. Look inside the lighting
door to ensure that the flame is out.
2. Continue material motor agitation until oil and material
temperature are below 300ºF (149ºC).

3. Turn main gas control valves on propane tanks to "OFF".
4. Turn engine ignition switch off to protect battery.
5. For the next day's use, keep kettle full of material to
facilitate ease of heating. Material level should be kept low
for next day's introduction of fresh material.
6. Keep material feed door closed to avoid water or foreign
matter from entering kettle.
7. Drain the material from the reservoir into draw-off boxes,
pan, etc., until reservoir is empty.
4.2

SEASONAL SHUTDOWN

Follow these steps when shutting the unit down

for an extended amount of time.
1. Drain material and clean the inside of the kettle.
2. Lubricate all grease fittings.
3. Clean exterior and, if required, repaint with high
temperature silver paint.
4. Disconnect and paint propane tanks.
