The IKA A11 basic mill is maintenace-free. It is subject only to the
natural wear and tear of components and their statistical failure
rate.
When ordering spare parts, please give the manufacturing
number shown on the type plate, the machine type and the
name of the spare part.
Please send in equipment for repair only after it has been clea-
ned and is free from any materials which may constitute a health
hazard. Use only cleansing agents which have been approved by
IKA to clean IKA devices. To remove use:
Dyes
Construction materials
Cosmetics
Foodstuffs
Fuels
For materials which are not listed, please request information
from IKA. Wear the proper protective gloves during cleaning of
the devices.
Electrical devices may not be placed in the cleansing agent for
the purpose of cleaning.
Before using another than the recommended method for clea-

The following instructions must be observed when using the large
grinding container A 11.4:
Filling height:
The maximum filling height, shown in Figure 5, must not be
exceeded (about 10 mm below the stainles steel upper edge).
Otherwise the drive may overheat.
Furthermore, good grinding results connot be expected (a wide
range of granularity). What has been said before also applies here:
(for example, only 50-80% of the normaly filling quantity) are redu-
ced more quickly, the granularity of the final product is finer, the
range of granularity is smaller and the heating up of the grinding
material is reduced.
Grinding procedure:
Since the pulverization tools no longer reach the entire grinding
area with a grinding container of this size, the mill must be turned
with both hands during the grinding procedure (180°). By lightly
shaking (similar to mixing a drink), you can achieve good grinding
results (a narrow range of granularity).
At the end of the grinding procedure, the mill should be started
again while is standing on the table. This allows the pulverization
tool to be cleaned by centrifugal force.
Please note:
No liquid may be added to the grinding material with this grinding
container. The reason for this is that the nature of the grinding pro-
cedure (turning and shaking the mill) would result in moisture get-
ting on the rotor shaft seal.
The rotor shaft seal will not let dust through, but it is not guaran-
teed to provide a sealagainst liquid.
