d) Switching the measuring device on and off
• Use the "POWER" on/off button (4) to turn the meter on and off. Each press switches the device on and off.
• The measuring device will turn on with a beep. The display will show the start screen with all display segments and
the backwards counting main display for approximately 5 seconds.
• After the display test is completed, the display shows the current measured value.
• To turn it off, press the on/off key again. The device will turn off with a beep.
e) Temperature compensation
In order to obtain highly accurate measurement results during the pH measurement, it is necessary to carry out
temperature compensation. Here, the characteristic curve of the electrode/measuring device is adapted to the liquid
to be measured.
The temperature compensation can be done automatically or with an optional temperature sensor.
f) Manual temperature compensation
• For manual temperature compensation, no external temperature sensor may be connected.
• Determine the temperature of the measuring fluid in advance with an external thermometer.
• Connect the pH electrode to the measuring device and turn on the meter. As measuring function, "PH" must be
shown on the display. If this is not the case, switch over the measuring function with the "PH/mV" key.
• Press the "TEMP.C" key (7). The manual setting process is activated. Here, the temperature value, the pH 4 refer-
ence value, the pH7 reference value and the pH10 reference value are set one after the other.
• The manual settings menu can be accessed using the following keys:
- The value can be changed with the "↑" (5) and "↓" (6) keys.
- The decimal place can be changed using the "←" key (8).
Temperature value
The first decimal point starts flashing in the bottom line. Here, the current temperature of the measuring liquid is set.
Set the previously determined temperature. The adjustment range is from 0 to +100 °C.
• After entering the temperature, press the "TEMP.C" key. The next adjustment step follows.
pH 4 reference value
The first decimal point starts flashing in the bottom line. Here, the reference value for the pH 4 calibration is set. The
values are usually given as a function of temperature on the packaging of the buffer solutions. Read the appropriate
value on the packaging of the pH 4 buffer solution at the temperature determined. The adjustment range is from 3.80
to 4.20 pH.
• After entering the value, press the "TEMP.C" key. The next adjustment step follows.
pH 7 reference value
The first decimal point starts flashing in the bottom line. Here, the reference value for the pH 7 calibration is set. Read
the appropriate value on the packaging of the pH 7 buffer solution at the temperature determined. The adjustment
range is from 6.80 to 7.20 pH.
• After entering the value, press the "TEMP.C" key. The next adjustment step follows.
