9 CHECKING THE PROBE POSITION

This menu option, which allows you to check the correct probe position against the surface to be traversed, is very useful in
the two following cases:
– When measuring grooves or bores
Lets you make sure that the probe remains into contact with the surface throughout the measuring range, otherwise the
measurement will be interrupted.
– When measuring critical surfaces
Lets you position the probe correctly, especially on concave surfaces.
To access this menu option, press Position
The green cursor on the left shows the current position of the probe stylus. To get correct results, it should be positioned in
the middle of the range including a red scroll bar.
Actual deviation of the probe stylus against the middle of the window appears at the upper right corner (9.4 µm in the
example above).
Pressing the key
causes the probe stylus to move automatically to the middle of the measuring range.
There are 5 Y-resolutions that can be chosen, i.e. ±25; ±50; ±100; ±250 and ±500 µm (respectively ±1000; ±2000; ±4000;
±10000 and ±20000 µin). To change the scale appearing on the right side, press either keys
