PROBLEM(S) POSSIBLE CAUSE(S)
Cutter breaks 1. Steel swarf or dirt

re-sharpened or worn
cutter.
3. Cutter skipping
during starting cut.
4. Gib strip misaligned.
5. Loose cutting bit.
6. Insufficient use of
cutting oil or
unsuitable type of oil.

SUGGESTED SOLUTION(S)
1. Remove the cutter and
clean the part. Clean the
workpiece surface.
2. Resharpen or replace
cutting bit.
3. See Troubleshooting -
Cutter skips out of
centre-punch mark at
initiation of cut.
4. See Care & Maintenance -
Slide adjustment.
5. Retighten cutting bit in
the arbor and check that
the arbor set screws are
tight to the arbor spindle.
6.1 Make sure the coolant
bottle valve is open.
6.2 Inspect the coolant
system for blockages.
Flush the system if
necessary.
6.3 Inspect cutter groove
for blockages and
clean if necessary.
6.4 Have certified
technician service the
tool if steps 6.1 to 6.3
fail to resolve problem.
