WARMING UP ENGINE

1) Before beginning operation, allow the
engine to warm up at idling speed for 3
minutes. (Failure to do this will shorten
engine life.)
2) Be sure the low oil pressure warning
indicator goes off after starting the
engine.
3) Check for a steady flow of water from
the cooling-water pilot hole.
CAUTION:
@
If the low oil pressure indicator does
not go off after the engine starts, stop
the engine. Otherwise, serious engine
damage could occur. Check the oil
level and add oil if necessary. If the
cause for the low oil pressure warning
indicator cannot be found, consult
your Yamaha dealer.
A continuous flow of water from the
pilot hole shows that the water pump
is pumping water through the cooling
passages. If water is not flowing out of
the pilot hole at all times while the
engine is running, do not continue to
run the engine. Overheating and seri-
ous damage could occur. Stop the
engine and check to see if the water
inlet on the lower casing is blocked. If
the problem cannot be found and cor-
rected, consult your Yamaha dealer.
