When replacing a faulty throttle body, it must be calibrated through its range of
motion. This idle relearn dongle helps the powertrain control module (PCM) learn
the position of the new throttle body.
NOTE: Please ensure the vehicle has a properly charged battery in good
working condition (>12.5 Volts is recommended).
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1:
After you have installed your new throttle body, power the ignition (KOEO). Do not
start the vehicle.
STEP 2:
Turn off all accessories, such as the fan, radio, air conditioning and all
exterior lighting.
STEP 3:
Plug the programmer into the OBD-II port, which is usually located under the
steering wheel.
STEP 4:
Monitor the red LED flashes and wait for a solid green indicator. While flashing
red, the programmer commands the throttle body to be opened and closed while
measuring the throttle position signal. After two complete cycles (approximately two
minutes), the buzzer will sound once and the LED light will illuminate green.
STEP 5:
Once the green LED is illuminated, turn the engine on and let the engine idle. While
the LED is flashing green, the programmer will be monitoring engine idle and
confirming that the calibration was successful.
STEP 6:
Wait for the LED to emit solid green and activate a buzzer, indicating that the relearn
is completed.
STEP 7:
Turn off the engine and/or remove the idle relearn tool. Test drive vehicle to confirm
that throttle body is performing correctly.
