Instructions for the use of safety valves
In accordance with Directive 2014/68/EU

Pressurized devices may only be assembled and brought into
operation by specialist personnel trained in the field of hydraulics.

Safety information
DANGER
Do not dismantle the pressurized device (safety valve) until you
have ensured that the system is no longer under pressure.
Check residual pressure using a gauge.
WARNING
Use of the safety valve outside its permitted limits is dangerous and
is prohibited. Only touch the safety valve after it has cooled down.
Do not employ safety valves as servo solenoid valves.
Do not inhale or swallow any fluid escaping as a result of defects,
incorrectly mounted valves or during venting.
Take care not to exceed the permitted venting flow rate
(see TÜV certificate).
NOTICE
Only use the safety valve in accordance with the operating
instructions, the machine or the system.
Observe the regulations applicable at the site of installation before
putting into operation and during operation.
The plant operator bears sole responsibility for ensuring compliance
with existing regulations.
The safety valve must not be disassembled. The valve is not
intended for use with corrosive operating fluids or in a corrosive
atmosphere. The set opening pressure has been tested and sealed
by a specialist. The seal must not be removed or damaged.

Notes on putting into operation
Check the model certificate and Declaration of Conformity together
with the valve data and keep in a safe place.
Assembly
Check that all safety valve components are complete.
Once installed, the valve must be accessible to operators.
In the case of cartridge-type valves, check the installation
dimensions given in catalog RDEF 50153.
Insert the valve in the hole provided, and tighten to the specified
torque.
In the case of the line-connection valve, arrange the line
connections in such a way that the reaction forces arising when the
valve is relieved of pressure are absorbed. For tightening torques,
see the table below.

Commissioning
After assembly, check that the pipework is properly installed.
Ensure that the oil flows away to the tank through a sufficiently
large, pressure-tight line. After you have checked the set pressure,
the valve can be put into operation.
Maintenance / Function test
We recommend function tests at six-monthly intervals. For these
tests, relieve the valve of pressure as follows:
Release the lock of the setting spindle by turning the knob counter-
clockwise. Unscrew the setting spindle as far as the stop using the
handwheel. Use a gauge to check that the valve has been completely
relieved of pressure.
Setting the pressure:
Screw the setting spindle in by turning the handwheel clockwise
until the locking knob touches the shoulder of the valve. Tighten the
locking knob hand-tight, then check the set pressure.
Disassembly
De-pressurize the entire system. Check the temperature of the
safety valve.
Detach the valve from the pipes using a suitable tool, or unscrew
from the threaded hole.
Environment / Disposal
Valves which can no longer be used – and any operating fluid
remaining in them – must be disposed of in an environmentally
friendly manner.
