FRONT PANEL CONTROLS
2. PHONES
Before plugging any headphones in, turn down the
VOLUME control for safety. And when you are not listening
to the headphones it is wise to unplug them from the socket.
Otherwise, when not wearing the phones you might inadver-
tently turn up the volume to.a high level and feed a danger-
ously strong signal to the headphones.
3. EXTRA SPEAKERS
If you have nothing connected to the SPEAKERS B
terminals, pressing this button will have no effect.
If you have connected speakers wired for "ambience
recovery," use this button to select ordinary stereo (with the
button out) or spatially enhanced ambient stereo (with the
button in).
4. BASS
The Bass control adjusts the relative level of the low
frequencies in the sound. The electrical response of the
amplifier is flattest when the control is set in the detent at the
12 o'clock position. Rotation of the knob to the right (clock-
wise) increases the level of low-frequency sounds, and
rotation counter-clockwise decreases their level. Adjust the
Bass control to achieve the tonal balance that sounds most
natural to you.
5. TREBLE
The Treble control adjusts the relative level of the high
frequencies in the sound. The response of the amplifier is
flattest when the control is set in the detent at the 12 o'clock
position. Rotation of the Treble control to the right (clockwise)
increases the level of high-frequency sounds, and rotation
counter-clockwise decreases their level. Adjust the Treble
