APPLICATION AND LIMITATIONS
APPLICATION
Follow Step 1 & Step 2 to use this equipment.
1. Connect the swivel eye at the top of the Self Retractable Lifeline to a suitable anchorage point situated above the
user's head using connectors as per EN 362 & ensure the connector is locked. The Micro SRL can also be used in a
horizontal direction and anchored at foot level (no lower) where a suitable anchorage exists. For SRLs from the Sharp
EDGE range (with VG 11 test compliance), they may also be used in a horizontal direction. WHEREVER POSSIBLE
PREFERENCE SHOULD BE GIVEN TO ANCHOR POINT(S) ABOVE THE HEAD OF THE USER.
2. Now connect the swivel hook of the equipment to the attachment element of your full body harness and ensure that
it is locked. You are now safe to move around at normal walking pace. In the event of a fall, the Self Retracting Lifeline
locks & also minimises the impact forces on the body of user.
3. Now insert the locking pin into the bush of the bracket and tighten fully.
4. Reel out the wire and guide it through the pulley of Tripod and connect to the Dorsal D-Ring of the user's harness.
Ensure that the communication between the lifter and the liftee can be maintained at all times during the rescue process.
The lifting / lowering function is for rescue purposes only and not for lifting / lowering loads.
The maximum rated load of the lifting device is 140 kg.
RETRACTABLE MODE
Pull the Push pin out and push the handle down to change the mode in to Retractable mode.
RESCUE MODE
After a fall has occurred while attached to the retractable, pull the pin out and allow the handle to move out to activate
the Retrieval function. The device comes with an additional hand-operated lowering function intended for lowering a
person over a distance limited to 2 meters.
Note: Check the shaft to make sure that the green band comes out fully. If not, rotate the handle and try to pull the
handle upside until the green band comes out fully.
For the micro SRL, follow Step 1 & Step 2 to use this
equipment as single or double Lanyard.
1. Connect the swivel eye of the micro SRL to the
dorsal attachment of the full body harness with the help
of a separate D-ring connector & ensure the connector
is locked.
2. Now connect the snap/scaffold hook at the
termination end of the device to the structure and
ensure that it is locked. You are now safe to move
around at normal walking pace. In the event of a fall,
the Self Retracting Lifeline locks & also minimizes the
impact forces on the body of user.
For the retrieval SRL, follow the below procedure:
1. Install the appropriate bracket on Tripod with help of
two locking pins supplied with the bracket.
2. Mount the SRL on the bracket by inserting the
guided pulley of the SRL into the recess provided in the
bracket.

LIMITATIONS
• Do not use if you have any medical conditions which could affect your safety in both normal and emergency use.
• The equipment shall only be used by a person trained and competent in its safe use.
• A rescue plan shall be in place to deal with any emergencies that could arise during work.
• Do not make any alterations or additions to the equipment without the manufacturer's prior written consent.
• The equipment should not be used outside its limitation, or for any purpose other than that for which it is intended.
• The product should be a personal property of its user.
• Ensure the compatibility of items of equipment when assembled into a system.
• It is important to check before use for any dangers that may arise by the use of combinations of equipment in which the
safe function of any one item is affected by or interferes with the safe function of another.
• Carry out a pre-use check of the product, to ensure that it is in a serviceable condition & operates correctly before it is used.
• Withdraw from use any equipment where there is any doubt about its condition for safe use or if it has been used to
arrest a fall. Do not use again until it is confirmed by a competent person.
• Ensure that the anchor device is strong enough & has a minimum strength of 12kN for metal & 18kN for textile and the
anchor point will preferably be situated above the user's head.
• It is advisable to use the dorsal attachment D-Ring of the harness for connection to the Self Retracting Lifeline.
However if it is not possible for any reason, the chest attachment element may also be used.
• When intended to be used in a fall arrest systems, it is essential for safety that the anchor device or anchor point
should always be positioned and the work carried out in such a way as to minimise both the pendulum and the
potential fall distance. When the fall arrest system must be placed above the position of the user, the manufacturer
shall make a statement to that effect.
• When intended to be used in fall arrest systems, it is essential for safety to verify the free space required beneath the
user at the workplace before each use, so that in case of a fall there will be no collision with the ground or other
obstacle in the fall path. It should be min. 4 meters below the feet of the user with this product.
• Be aware of hazards that may affect the performance or cause failure of the equipment, such as:
• extreme temperatures (below -15°C and above +50°C)
• aggressive environmental conditions including sand & grit, cement, hot surfaces, naked flames, welding
splatter, sparks, electrical conductivity
• contact with: sharp edges, abrasive surfaces, chemicals
• Immediately stop using the product if it is exposed to any of the above or is damaged in any way until it has been
inspected by a competent person.
• It is essential for the safety of the user that if the product is re-sold outside the original country of destination the
reseller shall provide instructions for use, for maintenance, for periodic examination and for repair in the language of
the country in which the product is to be used.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (SHARP EDGE USE)
• It is possible to use a horizontal Self Retracting Lifeline over an edge type A
• It is recommended to avoid the loading of the Self Retracting Lifeline over edges.
• The Self Retracting Lifeline was tested also for horizontal use and a drop over a Type A edge has been
successfully tested.
• Type A edge definition: A steel edge with a radius of r = 0.5 mm and without burrs was used for the test. Due to this
test, the equipment may be used over similar edges, as can be found e.g. at rolled steel profiles, at wooden beams or
at a clad, rounded roof parapet. However, the following shall be considered when the equipment is used in a horizontal
or transverse arrangement and a risk of a fall from a height over an edge exists:
