5.1.

Lighting

The gas regulating control is located at the bot-
tom of the fireplace, behind the hinged panel in
the decorative frame (see figure).
The pilot light is located just in front of the main
burner, and is visible behind the glass.
Open the gas shut-off cock that is installed in
the gas line leading to the unit.
Turn knob A towards the ignition position (1 --> 2) until it will go no further.
Push knob in A and hold it for a few seconds. Gas begins to flow to pilot light.
Holding the knob pushed in, turn it further to the left (2 --> 3). You will hear a
'click"; the piezo lighter is activated. The pilot light igniter produces a spark.
Check to see that the pilot flame is burning. If not, turn the knob back to the
right and "click" again. Keep knob A pushed in and repeat the procedure until
the pilot flame is burning.
Once the pilot flame has ignited, hold the knob pushed in for approx 20 seconds
and then release it slowly.
Turn knob A further to the left to its final position (3 --> 4). Gas is now able to
reach the main burner. Depending on the position of knob B, the main burner
will now either ignite or not.
Attention! If the pilot light goes out, wait at least five minutes before trying to
re-light it.
5.2.
Regulating the gas flow / flame height
Attention. When the unit lights while it is still fairly cold, the flames from the main
burner will be quite blue. As the unit heats up to its normal operating temperature,
the flames will gradually become more yellow taking on a closer appearance of a
real coal or wood fire.
The rate of gas flow, and therefore the height of the flames, is regulated by knob B.
At its lowest setting (5), the gas flow is at zero or minimum, and at its highest
setting (6), gas flow - and flame height - is at maximum.
5.3.

Extinguishing

Turn knob B to the right to position 5 until the flame height is at minimum or
the main burner goes out.
Turn knob A to position 3. The gas supply to the main burner is completely cut
off; the pilot light continues to burn.
To turn the unit completely off, turn knob A further to position 1; the pilot light
goes out.
If the unit will not be used for an extended period, close the gas shut-off cock in
the gas line.
