Use
Compressed oxygen cylinders may only be filled with oxygen of the
following quality characteristics:
Purity: ≥99.5 Vol% O
2
Water content: ≤0.05 mg/L oxygen
Tasteless and odourless
For the maximum permissible contaminants national regulations
apply, in the USA for example 42 CFR, Part 84 (NIOSH):
carbon monoxide (CO): 0.001 Vol%
carbon dioxide (CO
): 0.03 Vol%
2
The compressed oxygen cylinders must be filled at the correct nominal
filling pressure as specified on the cylinder body and valve housing.
WARNING
!
Danger of bursting!
Do not overfill the compressed oxygen cylinders! They do not
have a safety valve and could burst.
To avoid overfilling, Dräger recommends the use of a
pressure relief valve on the oxygen filling facility.
The temperature of the oxygen and compressed oxygen cylinder can
increase during the filling process. This can lead to an incomplete
filling of the cylinder. To avoid this effect to a large extent, Dräger
recommends a filling pressure increase of 390 psi/min (27 bar/min).
Check the cylinder pressure at ambient temperature after the filling
process and top up the compressed oxygen cylinder if required.
Observe the instructions of the filling station manufacturer.
Compressed oxygen cylinders made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic
can develop cracks in the paint coating at the cylinder neck or base
when the cylinders are being filled. This is due to the varying distention
of the composite material on the shell and at the cylinder neck/base.
This does not impair the operational safety of the compressed oxygen
cylinders.

3.2.2
Installing the compressed oxygen cylinder
1. Make sure the cylinder valve is closed.
2. Remove the lock nut from the valve
outlet.
3. Place
the
compressed
cylinder at the designated position
in
the
closed-circuit
apparatus; secure and connect it
4. Slowly open the cylinder valve.
5. Carry out a high-pressure leak test
in accordance with the Instructions
