The unit must be started for the first time with the gate partially closed, and open it slowly until you see water perfectly clear coming
out from the outlet of the pump; when you see the water becoming turbid slightly close the gate and leave work for a while, then slowly
open it until the water is clear.
WARNING!
Starting via soft-starter or frequency changer: the starting transient should last at most 5-6 seconds.
In order to avoid serious damages to the components we recommend:
WARNING!
Rinse the pump after installation and before normal operating conditions with the same liquid to be pumped into
operation.
Repeat the operation in case of ordinary or extraordinary maintenance that involves the extraction of the pump
from its housing.
CHECK WHILE RUNNING
After a sufficient period of time to reach normal operating conditions, verify that:
 There are no liquid leaks.
 There are no vibrations or anomalous noises.
 There are no oscillations of the flow rate.
 The motor's current absorption does not exceed that shown on the plate.
In the presence of even only one of these conditions, stop the pump and find the cause.
Checking the unbalance between the phases for three-phase motors
By means of an amperemeter, check absorption on the three phases, the value should be balanced (maximum acceptable imbalance
5%) and lower than the current value of the motor plate.
Repeat inspections at regular intervals (approximately every 2,000 hours of service).
In the case of operation controlled by a frequency changer (inverter):
WARNING!
For other recommendations for use with variable frequency, refer to the specific paragraph.
STOP
If it is necessary to arrest the pump, slowly close the gate valve and then stop the pump through the appropriate stop switch on the
electrical panel.
WARNING!
Sudden stops may give rise to water hammer and consequently can seriously damage the motor.
Prevent the reflux of liquid along the flow line. In case this is not possible, to avoid that the motor can be started
WARNING!
during the phase of reflux.
7. MAINTENANCE
CHECKS TO BE CARRIED OUT AT REGULAR INTERVALS
 Check that the current absorbtion remains regular;
 Verify that noises or vibrations do not arise;
 Check that there are no variations in the performance of the pump;
 Check the number of starts per hour;
 Make sure the content of sand or solid particles does not increase;
 Check the temperature of the pumped liquid.
 If the motor is equipped with PT100 sensor, check that the temperature remains constant over time.
CONSERVATION
Group installed, inactive but ready to be started: operate the group for at least 10 minutes once a month.
Engine removed from the system and stored: wash and protect surfaces against the risk of corrosion by applying suitable products.
In case of long storage period, store the motor in a vertical position.
Do not make changes to the product without prior permission.
Before any operation, switch off the power and make sure that it can not be restored: meeting the requirements
of EN 50110-1 during any work.
The replacement of the power cable must be performed by an authorized service center.
SAER motors are ordinary maintenance free. For extraordinary maintenance operations, contact the technical support SAER.
40
do not leave the pump run without liquid;
do not run the pump with the delivery valve closed for more than 2 minutes;
do not run the pump in cavitation.
do not operate the pump outside of its operating range (maximum and minimum flow).
the minimum frequency must not fall never below 70% of the nominal frequency.
the maximum frequency must not exceed the rated motor frequency.
