The aileron pushrods are connected to the servo output arms using swivel pushrod
connectors. Drill out the linkage holes in the output arms to suit the connector pivot
shaft.
Install the swivel connectors, not forgetting a drop of thread-lock fluid to prevent the
retaining nuts working loose.
Now draw the servo extension leads through both wing panels and out of the holes in
the underside of the wing close to the root ribs.
Fit the prepared servo well covers in the recesses in the wings. Drill 1.5 mm Ø pilot-
holes for the retaining screws, and screw the covers in place.
Locate the horn slots in the ailerons, and remove the covering film over them using a
sharp balsa knife.
Connect the pre-formed end of the aileron pushrod to the outermost hole in the
aileron horn.
Slip the pushrod through the swivel connector and glue the horn in the aileron.
Repeat the procedure with the other wing panel.
Set the servos and ailerons to neutral, and tighten the grubscrews in the swivel
pushrod connectors to clamp the pushrods. Apply a drop of thread-lock fluid to the
grubscrews to prevent them working loose.
Cut off the projecting pushrod material using a pair of side-cutters.
The next step is to attach the wing to the fuselage; first fit both wing panels on the
aluminium joiner tube, then place the wing on the fuselage, engaging the lugs at the
leading edge in the slot in the former. The two plastic screws and flanged bushes can
now be fitted at the trailing edge to hold the wing on the fuselage.
You will need to open up the holes in the wing panels. Glue the flanged bushes in the
holes using a few drops of cyano.
The wing struts can be fitted for added authenticity; they have no load-bearing
function. There are holes in the ends of the struts for the retaining screws; use a
small drill to open them up.
Drill a 2 mm Ø hole on the underside of the fuselage at a point about 55 mm aft of the
undercarriage recess, and centred on the chamfered area of the fuselage. Repeat on
the other side of the fuselage, and fix the struts to the fuselage using 2.9 mm Ø self-
tapping screws, as shown in the photograph.
The outboard end of the struts should now lie flat on the underside of the wings. Drill
2 mm Ø holes about 8 mm forward of the rear edge of the wing sheeting, and the
same distance from the wing trailing edge (not the ailerons). Fit 2.9 mm Ø self-
tapping screws to secure the outboard strut ends.
