8 PREPARATION

The following parts are included in the packaging for assembly of the mower:
Mower
Lower handle
Upper handle
Deflector
Tool bag with the following contents:
Operator's manual with Declaration of Conformity
Warranty conditions
Spark plug key
Various fixing parts.
In the unlikely event of a missing part, please contact your dealer.
NOTE
Always remove the spark plug connector before fitting the bar and the starter
cable holder. Following assembly, at the latest before starting the engine, push
the spark plug connector back in place.

Assembling the handlebar lower section (Illustration C1 )

Place the lower guide bar section up against the housing (kink upwards) until the
bore holes at the end of the bar correspond to the bore holes in the housing flange.
Insert a spacing bush into each housing flange (from the tool bag).
Insert two hexagon bolts M8x25 with fitted washer from the outside through the
housing flange and bar section, add washers and screw into place using self-
locking nuts.

Assembling the handlebar upper section (Illustration E1 )

Push the handlebar ends onto the handlebar lower section until the bores
are aligned.
Fit a washer (from the tool bag) onto each of the M6x40 hexagonal-head bolts.
Then push the hexagonal-head bolts with fitted washers in from outside, fit
washers to the other side and fix in place using four self-locking nuts.

Attaching the motor brake Bowden cable to the engine (Illustration H1 )

Attach the Bowden cable for the engine brake at the rear of the engine.
Insert the bracket at the end of the Bowden cable (1) from below into the control
lever for the brake (2) up to the bend.
Raise the Bowden cable up to the left.
Pull the moveable part of the end of the Bowden cable (3) backwards until the wire
cable (4) can be inserted from the front into the notch (5).
Then push the Bowden cable (3) forwards until the snap hook (6) catches in the
notch (5) in the Bowden cable bracket.
Fasten the Bowden cable to the upper and lower part of the handle using the cable
ties from the tool bag.
NOTE
After attachment of the engine-brake throttle cable, the braking function of the
safety control bar must be checked. As soon as the control bar is released, the
cutter bar must come to a standstill within three seconds. If this is not the case,
please consult your nearest authorised workshop.

Handle starter assembly (Illustration L1 )

Remove the starter cable holder (1) from the tool bag.
Unscrew the nut until the two halves can be pushed over the bar.
There is a sticker (2) on the top bar showing the position of the starter cable
holder.
NOTE
For reasons of safety, the starter cable holder may only be fitted in the
prescribed position.
Push the motor stop safety control bar (3) onto the top part of the bar (4) and hold
it tight, pull the starter cable (5) out and insert it into the starter cable holder.
Fit the two halves (6) together, tighten the nut again. This prevents the starter
cable popping out.
The starter cable holder must be fitted / aligned in such a way that the starter cable
is freely accessible and does not rub against any other parts.

Attaching the deflector (Illustration T1 )

IMPORTANT
Using the device without the ejection flap can lead to injury from objects being
thrown upwards. Only operate the device with the ejection flap.
Safety instruction!
See table for explanation of symbols page 3
Fasten the deflector inside the mower housing by means of the screws.

Adjusting the cutting height (Illustration I )

Pull the lever at each wheel towards the wheel and latch again after a lateral move
into the desired position.
All four levers must be in the same position!

9 BEFORE USING THE LAWNMOWER FOR THE FIRST TIME

Check all screw connections and the spark plug connector for a tight fit. Tighten the
screws if necessary! Attachment of the cutter bar must be checked in particular (refer
here to the chapter "Cutter bar care").
The blade attachment screw must always be tightened by an authorised workshop. If
the blade screw is too tight or too loose, the blade coupling and cutter bar can become
damaged or loose which can lead to serious injuries.
The lawn mower is equipped with a motor stop device.
Before using the equipment for the first time, make sure that the motor stop safety
control bar is working perfectly. When the control bar is released, the motor and cutter
bar must come to a standstill within three seconds.
After release, the bar must always return to the position shown in the "component
description" diagram.
If this is not the case, it must be checked immediately by an authorised workshop.
Risk of injury!
If the blade run-on time is longer, stop using the equipment and take it to an authorised
workshop.
Measuring run-on time
After the engine has been started, the blade rotates and a wind-like noise can be heard.
The run-on time corresponds to the duration of the wind-like noise after the engine has
been stopped, it can be measured using a stopwatch.
Machine safety and protective devices must not be manipulated or disabled!
Make sure that all protective devices have been attached properly and are not
damaged.

Filling with oil (Illustration Y1 )

IMPORTANT
Avoid damage! Engine is delivered without oil. You must add oil before running
the engine.
Before starting the engine for the first time, use a funnel to fill motor oil (quantity and
quality see technical data) having unscrewed the dipstick in this opening first.
Set the mower on level ground.
Slowly fill oil through the filler neck. Do not overfill. After filling the oil, wait for about
one minute and then check the oil level.
Insert the dipstick and screw it tight.
Check oil level
Remove the dipstick. Use a clean cloth to wipe off the dipstick, then insert it again
and screw tightly. Then pull the dipstick out again and read off the oil level. The oil
must be at the full mark at the top (arrow). Replenish oil if necessary. The oil level
must not be higher than the full mark, however.
Insert the dipstick again and tighten.
After initial filling, remove the "NO OIL" sign from the top of the engine.

Filling with fuel

Only fill the tank with fresh and clean unleaded standard petrol.
Fuel with up to 10% ethanol is acceptable.
Unscrew tank cap.
Fill tank with fuel using a funnel up to max. lower edge of filling nozzle.
Replace tank cap and screw tight.
