Category 2 according to DIN EN 17406
Refers to bicycles and EPACs to which condition 1 applies and which are also used on unpaved roads and gravel
paths with moderate uphill and downhill gradients. Under these conditions, contact with uneven terrain and
repeated loss of tire contact with the ground may occur. Drops are limited to 15 cm or less.

Category 2 according to ASTM F2043-13
Bicycles/add-on components in this category may, in addition to the conditions of use referred to in category
1, also be used on gravel and unpaved roads of a moderate grade. In this category, there may be a short-term
loss of tyre ground contact in harsher terrain. Jumps (drops) from a height up to max. 15 cm can take place.
Category 3 according to DIN EN 17406
Refers to bicycles and EPACs to which condition 1 and condition 2 apply, and which are also used on rough
trails, uneven unpaved roads, as well as on difficult terrain and undeveloped paths, and for whose use techni-
cal skill is required. Jumps and drops should be less than 60 cm.

This is a set of conditions for operation of a bicycle/component that includes Condition 1 and Condition 2 as
well as rough trails, rough unpaved roads, and rough terrain and unimproved trails that require technical skills.
Jumps and drops are intended to be less than 61 cm (24 in.).
Warning
Each component has its load limit, which can be exceeded in case of overload or during special driving manoeuvres. Please note
the following:
• Never exceed the permitted system and rider weight.
• Use your saddle only in the intended use category, or a lower one (according to ASTM F 2043-13/ DIN EN 17406).
• After situations in which especial or unexpected force has been exerted, such as after a crash, a cycling mistake or an accident,
carry out an extraordinary inspection.
• If in doubt, the potentially damaged component should be replaced prophylactically. In such case, play it safe and ask your
SQlab dealer for advice.
• For the protection of third parties, a component which is not immediately and obviously recognisable as being defective should
be clearly marked as unusable.
