ADJUSTMENTS

They are necessary to ensure high quality bindings whenever one changes book thickness
paper substance or type of cover.
Glue
Penetration:
The binder is fitted with notching knives and a milling wheel to improve the penetration
of the glue.
Milling is compulsory for the binding of signatures. Notching will generally do for loose sheets.
Dial (7) indicates the milling depth.
With dial turned at zero, the knives remain active.
n.b. : at motor stopped the process will not start when the milling is not fully at zero.
When neither notching nor milling are required, the roughing function must be switched off
(18), the milling depth lowered to zero (7) and the milling wheel turned with its notching knives
out of the way of the book.
To gain access to the wheel, remove carriage
flanges, send (10) the empty carriage towards
the cover station, press and unlock stop button
(12), restart (17) drum rotation, open (11) the
carriage to its maximum. Bring (10) carriage
back. Stop it (12) over the milling wheel. Open
its protection shutter. Turn the milling wheel by
hand as required and move the carriage to the
loading place.
Length of the film
- The start and end of the glue deposit on the spine are separately adjustable.
- The start of the film of glue (right end of the binding) is to be adjusted as a function of
the length of the book by means of handwheel (26). It is indicated in mm from the left
end of the book on the scale behind window(26).
Do not force the handle beyond the end of its travel -it could void the warranty -
Do not turn it too fast.
Remove the handle (26) before activating the clamp.
- The end of the film of glue (left end of the binding) is identical for any size of books
and seldom needs adjustment. To modify it, unlock nut (27) and slide it to the left or to
the right according to required change. Lock it when correct position is adjusted.
