Maintenance and care

Warning
Uncontrolled moving masses can cause personal injury and material damage (risk of
crushing). If a worn spindle nut breaks on a vertical or sloping EGC, the work mass will
fall.
• In case of signs of wear, return the EGC to Festo for repairs.
Controller signals can cause the EGC to make unexpected movements.
• Switch off the controller for all maintenance work on the EGC and secure it to pre-
vent it from being restarted unintentionally.
Each time maintenance is carried out:
• Check the axial play of the slide for wear of the spindle nut. The wear on the ball screw will lead to
increased noise in the long term and eventually cause the ball screw to block or the spindle nut to
break.
Maximum axial play is as follows:

Max. permissible axial play [mm]

Cleaning and maintenance:
• If required, clean the guide rail with a soft cloth. Any media which will not damage the material may
be used as cleaning agents.
Note
The lubrication interval S
• Halve the lubrication interval S
– dusty and dirty environment
– nominal strokes 2000 mm
– speeds of 2 m/s
– positioning profile: Z delta operation (frequent acceleration and braking)
– ambient temperatures 40 °C
– product has been in operation for 3 years.
We recommend that you lubricate the recirculating ball bearing spindle and the bearing
guide at the same time. In this case lubrication should take place according to the
shorter lubrication interval.
If more than one of the above criteria are met, the normal lubrication interval must be
divided by four.
