Before connecting the machine to the mains power,
make certain that the data on the type plate matches
with the mains power data.
m Warning!
Always ensure that the machine is switched off and
disconnected from the power supply before changing
the device settings.
• All covers and safety devices must be properly fit-
ted before switching on the device.
• The grindstone must be able to run freely.
• Before operating the on/off switch, make sure that
the grindstone and honing wheel are correctly
mounted and that the moving parts of the device
function smoothly. Visually inspect both for defects.
• Replace a damaged or worn grindstone.

9. Installation instructions

9.1 Installation and setting
Please make sure that your grinding machine stands
upright and stable on a solid surface with sufficient
lighting.
The machine has no front or rear side. Grinding can
take place either with or against the direction of rota-
tion.
The grindstone is not pre-assembled for packaging
reasons
m Warning!
Do not connect the device to the power supply until
assembly is complete. Failure to do so may result in
accidental starting and possibly serious injury.
9.2 Sound test
Check the grindstone for cracks and perform a sound
test for crack detection.
• The grindstone must be removed from the machine
for the sound test. The grindstone stands upright
on the floor. On a hard floor, use a piece of wood as
a support. The grindstone must be dry.
• Lightly tap the grinding disc with a non-metallic
hammer. A crack-free disc has a high, purely bell-
like sound. A disc that has a crack produces a muf-
fled sound. If the grindstone is flawless, it can be
fitted.
9.3 Installing the grindstone (Fig. 2)
Only use grindstones with identical technical data
(see Technical data).
Assemble grinding stone (12) and the star knob (3) as
shown in fig. 2.
9.4 Fitting the workpiece support (1) (Fig. 2 + 3)
Then place the work piece surface (1) into the brac-
ing element and secure it, using the help of the star
knobs (see fig. 2)
The workpiece support (1) can be attached both to
the upper mount for workpiece support (2) and to the
side mount for workpiece support (15).

This depends on whether you wish to work with or
against the grinding direction.
9.5 Installing the water tank (Fig. 4 + 5)
The water tank should be hooked into its port (D) (see
fig. 5).

10. Working instructions

On/off switch (6) (Fig. 1)
• To switch on the machine, press the green "I" button.
• To switch the device off again, press the red button
"0".
Direction of grinding (Fig. 2 + 3)
It mainly depends on your requirements whether you
want to work with or against the direction of grind-
ing. If you want to quickly remove large quantities of
steel (e.g. from very old, rusty tools) or if you want to
grind coarse tools, such as axes, it is recommended
to work against the direction of grinding. If you want
to grind more precisely, we recommend to work with
the direction of grinding. This applies, for example, to
carving tools and knives. Please note that the grind-
ing process is slowed down if you work with the direc-
tion of rotation.
Please check before each operation whether the sur-
face of the grinding stone is even. To do so, lower the
universal support onto the stone and turn it manually
by 360°. If required, trim uneven material using the
250 trimming device.
Upon the time of delivery, the TiGer provides of even
surfaces.
Water Reservoir (Fig. 4 + 5)
Fill the water reservoir with water up to the marking.
The grinding stone becomes saturated with water.
Refill water, if required. Do not grind without water.
Once the grinding process is completed, lower the
water reservoir to prevent the grinding stone from be-
ing in the water for an extended period of time.
Empty the water reservoir regularly. Otherwise, par-
ticles of steel and trimmed stone will accumulate and
compress in the reservoir.
Expert tip: Such precipitations can be avoided if you
place a magnet into the water.
Angle Measurer (Fig. 6)
Measure the angle of the grinding bezel by compar-
ing the cutting edge to the notches. Then, you set
the determined angle at the device by changing the
height of the universal support. To do so, perform the
following steps:
First, clamp the tool into the device and insert the de-
vice on the universal support.
Then, hold the angle measurer with the desired angle
at the tool tip. Now, adjust the height of the universal
support in such a manner that the front end of the
angle measurer straightly borders the grinding stone.
Please make sure that the angle measurer is always
in alignment with the tool tip.
