Changing the Tool (see figure B)
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
Wear protective gloves when changing the
tool. The drill chuck can become very hot during
longer work periods.
Open the key type drill chuck 1 by turning until the tool
can be inserted. Insert the tool.
Insert the chuck key 5 into the corresponding holes of
the key type drill chuck 1 and clamp the tool uniformly.
Operation

Starting Operation

Observe correct mains voltage! The voltage of
the power source must agree with the voltage
specified on the nameplate of the machine.
Power tools marked with 230 V can also be
operated with 220 V.
Reversing the Rotational Direction
The rotational direction switch 6 is used to reverse the
rotational direction of the machine. However, this is not
possible with the On/Off switch 4 actuated.
Right rotation: For drilling and screwdriving, press
the rotational direction switch 6 downward to "R".
Left rotation: For loosening and unscrewing screws
and nuts, press the rotational direction switch 6 upward
to "L".
Gear Selection, Mechanical
Actuate the gear selector 2 only when the
machine is at a standstill.
Two speed ranges can be preselected with the gear
selector 2.
1st gear:
Low speed range; for working with
large drilling diameter.
2nd gear:
Higher speed range; for working with
small drilling diameter.
If the gear selector 2 cannot be fully engaged, lightly
rotate the drive spindle with the drill bit by twisting the
drill chuck.

Switching On and Off
To start the machine, press the On/Off switch 4 and
keep it depressed.
Lock
switch 4 by pushing the lock-on
button 3 upward.
To switch off the machine, release the On/Off switch
4 or when it is locked with the lock-on button 3, briefly
press the On/Off switch 4 and then release it.
Adjusting the Speed
The speed of the switched on power tool can be varia-
bly adjusted, depending on how far the On/Off switch
4 is pressed.
Light pressure on the On/Off switch 4 results in a low
rotational speed. Further pressure on the switch results
in an increase in speed.
Operating Instructions
Replacing the Drill Chuck (see figure C)
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
To dismount the key type drill chuck 1 position an open-
end spanner (size 27 mm) against the nut on the drive
spindle. Firmly hold the key type drill chuck with one
hand and with the other hand, turn the open-end span-
ner in anticlockwise direction until the drill chuck is
released from the tapered drill spindle.
Keep the drill spindle taper and the drill hole
of the drill chuck free from grease and debris.
To mount the key type drill chuck 1 turn the nut on the
drive spindle in clockwise direction to the stop. Place
the key type drill chuck without force onto the drive
spindle until it is tightly seated. Apply light blows with a
rubber hammer onto the face side of the key type drill
chuck 1 to ensure tight seating of the chuck. Pay atten-
tion that the clamping jaws of the key type drill chuck
do not project, in order not to damage them.
Tips
For drilling in metal, use only perfectly sharpened HSS
drill bits (HSS=high-speed steel). The appropriate qual-
ity is guaranteed by the Bosch accessories program.
Twist drills from 2.5–10 mm can easily be sharpened
with the drill bit sharpener (see accessories).
We recommend the use of a drill stand (see accesso-
ries) for work where greater precision is particularly
required.
