FUNCTION
The Bilsom Radio Hi-Visibility is a hearing protector with built-in full-stereo FM radio and AM radio. It allows you to listen to radio-reception in the FM-band bet-
ween 88 and 108 MHz and in the AM-band between 600 and 1600 kHz, while still protecting your hearing in an efficient and comfortable way. AM-/FM-radio, level
limited at 82 dB(A). This earmuff is provided with electrical audio input. The wearer should check correct operation before use. If distortion or failure is detected
refer to the manufacturers advice. Where high visibility is a requirement for reasons of safety, appropriately approved high visibility clothing must be worn in
addition to these earmuffs.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Unscrew the locking screw and open the battery lid (1). Insert the two enclosed 1,5 V AA batteries. Make sure that the + and - poles are in the correct position.
Ensure that the battery lid is closed completely.
Radio Hi-Visibility (headband worn over the head)
2.1 Extend the headband before use.
2.2 Place the earcups over the outer ear (picture A), antenna (4) on the right side.
2.3 Adjust the crown headband by moving it up and down in the side headbands (picture B).
2.4 The ear cushions should seal firmly against the head (picture C-D). For best results, remove all hair under the cushion. Noise reduction will be adverserly
effected by anything that impairs the seal of the earmuff cushions against the head, such as thick spectacle frames, balaclavas, etc. (picture E-F).
2.5 Turn on the volume control (2) and adjust the radio sound to a pleasant listening level. Adjust the tuning by means of the tuning knob (3) located on the
back of the cup.
3.
IMPORTANT USER INSTRUCTIONS
3.1 The earmuffs should be fitted, adjusted and maintained in accordance with the instructions.
3.2 The earmuffs should be worn at all times in noisy surroundings.
3.3 The earmuffs should be regularly inspected for serviceability.
3.4 The earmuffs should be cleaned and disinfected with soap and warm water. They must not be dipped into water.
3.5 Earmuffs and in particular cushions may deteriorate with use and should be examined at frequent intervals for signs of wear, for example, cracking or sound
leakage. Replacement cushions are available. For cushion replacement, just pull off the old ones and snap-in the new ones. To order new ear
cushions please see information about hygiene kits.
3.6 The fitting of hygiene covers to the cushions may affect the acoustic performance of the earmuffs.
3.7 Before and after usage, store in a dry place. The temperature should not exceed +55°C.
3.8 The product may be adversely affected by certain chemical substances. Further information should be sought from the manufacturer.
3.9 This earmuff is provided with electronic restoration of radio transmitted sounds. The wearer should check correct operation before use. If distortion or failure
is detected, the wearer should refer to the manufacturers advice for maintenance and replacement of the battery.
3.10 Warning - performance may deteriorate with battery usage. The typical period of continuous use that can be expected from the earmuff battery is 140 hours.
3.11 The output signal of the sound restoration circuit of this hearing protector does not exceed the values known to constitute a risk to hearing.
3.12 For the estimation of the effective attenuation of this earmuff the additional noise emission by the radio shall be taken into account. The estimated
A-weighted noise level under the earmuff in passive mode shall not be greater than 82 dB(A). Maximum output from the radio receiver earphones: 82 dB(A).
3.13 If the above mentioned recommendations are not followed, the protection and function afforded by the earmuffs may be severly impaired.
4.
AUDIO INPUT LEVELS
The audio levels in the earphones is dependent on the audio input level. To prevent harmful noise levels in the earphones never exceed the values and usage
described in figure A:1. Mean/average level of electrical input. Maximum permitted audio input level for 8 hours of usage time, compressed speech and music
U=68.4 mV. See page 26.
5.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Unscrew the locking screw and open the battery lid. Remove the old batteries. Insert new 1,5 V AA-alkaline batteries into the battery compartment (4) in
accordance with the instructions inside the compartment. Ensure that the battery lid is closed completely. It is time to change the batteries when the sound
reproduction is weakened or impaired. New alkaline batteries provide approx. 140 hours' operation.
6.
ANTENNA
Bilsom Radio Hi-Visibility is equipped with a special antenna for the best reception possible. In areas with limited head space, it is possible to attach the antenna
to the headband, but this will somewhat reduce the reception sensitivity, especially if you are listening to a distant or weak transmitter.
7.
