• Place the sewing machine on a table or another fl at and dry surface. Make sure that
you have enough space in which to work with the sewing machine.
• Turn the hand wheel (3) until the needle (7) and the articulated thread pick-up (11)
are at the top.
1. Place a spool of thread onto the thread spool pin (22) so that the thread spool rotates
clockwise when you pull the thread.
2. Place the thread around thread guide 1 (12) as shown on the machine.
3. Guide the thread down and place it around thread guide 2.
4. Guide the thread back up and thread it from right to left into the articulated thread
pick-up (thread guide 3).
5. Pull the thread down and feed it (from top to bottom) into thread guide 4 above the
needle.
6. Guide the end of the thread from right to left through the eye of the needle. If neces-
sary, use the threader (28) to help you (see the "Using the Threader" section).
7. Lift up the presser foot lever (18) until it engages, and guide the thread into the gap
in the presser foot (16).
8. Pull the thread approx. 10 cm through and place it to the back so that the end points
away from you.
