CAUTION
The noise produced during work can damage your
hearing.
f Always use ear protection.
Vibration emission value ah (vector sum for three di-
rections) and uncertainty K measured in accordance
with EN 62841 (see EU Declaration of Conformity):
Wood/Metal
Uncertainty
The specified emissions values (vibration, noise)
– are used to compare machines.
– They are also used for making preliminary
estimates regarding vibration and noise loads
during operation.
– They represent the primary applications of the
power tool.
CAUTION
The noise emissions during actual use of the
power tool can differ from the declared values
depending on the ways in which the tool is used
especially what kind of workpiece is processed.
f Identify safety measures to protect the operator
that are based on an estimation of exposure in
the actual conditions of use (taking account
of all parts of the operating cycle such as the
times when the tool is switched off and when it
is running idle in addition to the trigger time).

6 Commissioning and Operation

WARNING
Risk of accident if the machine is operated using
unauthorised voltages or frequencies.
f The mains voltage and the frequency of the
power source must correspond with the
specifications on the machine's name plate.
f In North America, only Festool machines with
the voltage specifications 120 V/60 Hz may be
used.
WARNING
Risk of accident, electric shock
f Always pull the plug out of the socket before
performing any type of work on the machine.
Adjustment of the riving knife
Risk of injury, if the riving knife is not correctly
adjusted.
The riving knife [1-11] must always be used for safety
reasons. The riving knife prevents the saw blade from
a

becoming jammed when making lengthwise cuts.
h
K = 1.5 m/s

Loosen screw [1-12], adjust the riving knife [1-11]
and retighten the screw (see figure).
Check the function of the swinging guard [1-9].
Switching On/Off
Switching On:
Press the safety button [1-14].
Press the on-off switch [1-13] and hold depressed.
Note: The on-off switch cannot be locked on.
Switching Off:
Release the on-off switch [1-13].

Adjustment

Risk of accident, electric shock
f Always pull the plug out of the socket before
performing any type of work on the machine.
7.1 Electronic Motor Control
Soft start
The electronically-controlled soft start ensures that
the tool starts without jerking and requires only a
small starting current (weaker fuses required).
Constant speed
The motor speed is electronically stabilised. This ena-
bles a constant cutting speed even under a heavy load.
