The status line at the bottom edge of the display
(7) shows the function that can be carried out,
alternating with any possible tips (e. g. Fill up P
(Powder)).
Warning hints will be displayed prefaced with the
word „Caution!" (e.g. silo lid closed). Also, the
status line will also display the required set tem-
perature until it is reached. If the silo lid and/or
silo closure is left open too long (risk of moisture
penetrating the equipment), a warning tone will
sound. This can only be stopped by closing the lid
and/or closure.

Before using Smartbox Invest with an investment
material, the following basic adjustments must be
made. Switch the machine on at the main switch
first. The main menu (menu level 1) will appear.
The best settings of the device for the investment
material in question (processing temperature,
mixing ratio, etc.) can be found in the processing
instructions for the investment material or con-
tact the manufacturer.
Use the MFK (1, turn = select, press = confirm) to
select the item ‚Additional functions" on menu
level 1 and sub-item ‚Basic setting' on menu level
2. The values set there apply to all subsequent
dosages with this investment compound. The
following parameters have to be set:
_ Powder reference quantity
Powder quantity that the mixing ratio of powder
and liquid refer to (e.g. Giroinvest Super 150 g :
37 ml = powder reference quantity of 150 g).
20
_ quantity of liquid
The total fluid amount (distilled water + liquid)
based on the powder reference quantity or the
mix ratio (e.g. Giroinvest Super 150 g : 37 ml =
liquid amount 37 ml).
_ liquid density
The measuring of the liquids is done using the
scales. The precise input of the liquid density is
vital for measuring accuracy! Contact the manu-
facturer about the concentration of the liquid or
calculate it using the following method.
We recommend using this method with water a
few times before calculating the required liquid
density - this means that a weight of 100 g has
to be determined for 100 ml of water -> divided
by 100 = density of water 1.00 g/ml.
Unpack the accompanying syringe, place it onto
scales that are as accurate as possible (e.g. an
assay-balance) and calculate and note down the
empty weight. Then fill the syringe with liquid up
to the 100 ml mark (draw up) and weigh again.
Before weighing the filled syringe, you must
ensure that there is no more air in it - you may
have to press any air that may be present out of
the syringe while it is pointing upwards. The
syringe must be filled with liquid up to the
100 ml mark without any air in it!
The weight of the filled syringe that has been
ascertained in this way (minus the previously
determined empty weight) divided by 100 gives
you the density of the liquid. Input and confirm
this value by turning the MFK (1).
_ cooling temperature
Input it and confirm it by using the MFK (1) in
line with the manufacturer's instructions. Maxi-
mum cooling capacity see Technical Data.
_ beaker control
When the beaker control is switched on (select:
YES), no measuring will take place if there is no
beaker on the weighing tray. Similarly, this func-
tion uses the weight of the beaker set up on it
to see if the beaker placed there is big enough
