Display - Messages

This section covers the error messages which may appear on the folder's
display. A description is given of what the error means and what can be
done to rectify it.
-- FAIL TO FEED --
DONE - Enter
The paper was fed either too late or not at all. The machine stops.
Remove the paper stack from the feed table, fan it out and place it back
on the feeder. Slide the stack down into the grip of the pressure roller.
Press Enter and resume feeding. If the "FAIL TO FEED" message
appears repeatedly, check:
The side guides are not set too tight against the paper stack (see
desciption under the heading of 4.1 "setting the paper guides".
Is the pressure of the feed roller correct?
When processing normal paper (80 g/m²), the knob should be in position
"0". If this is not sufficient, turn knob in "+" direction. If the paper becomes
wavy under the feed roller, the pressure is too high. Turn knob in the "-"
direction.
If the distance between the feed and counter-pressure roller set
correctly?
The distance is automatically set via the "PAP.SET" function. When
processing some special types of paper, however, it may be necessary to
increase the distance slightly. Before readjusting the distance, it should
be ensured that the fault message was not caused by a feed roller which
was set too lightly and therefore slipped.
The machine cannot recognise a double sheet as such. If more than one
sheet is drawn in at once, this generally occurs with a slight offset. This
causes a "DELIVERY FAULT" because the folded double sheet is longer
than one folded single sheet. The delivery is then blocked.
-- JAM IN FOLDER --
OPEN TOP COVER
A paper jam has occurred within the machine.
Refer under the headings of 4.8 "Clearing a jam" and 4.9 "Removing the
fold plates".
The paper run through the machine is monitored by two light barriers.
These are located in the inlet area of the fold plates and in the delivery
area. If a sheet passes the first light barrier but not under the second,
there is a "JAM IN FOLDER" fault. The machine stops.
-- MOTOR STOPPED --
OPEN TOP COVER
In the event of a serious paper jam (e.g. due to manual feeding of too
thick a stack of paper), the internal blocking protection is triggered and
switches the motor off. Open the top cover and remove the fold plates in
order to remove the jammed paper (see section 4.8 "Jam Clearance" and
4.9 "Removal of Fold Plates").
This message appears when a folded sheet has not been ejected properly
onto the stacker table. It is usually caused by paper piling up when the
stacker table is full or by a double sheet.
In rare cases, with certain types of paper, it can also happen when a
folded sheet catches the topmost panel of the proceeding sheet. This
sheet causing the jam will probably look like this:
If possible, adjust the fold to look more even like this:
To clear the jam, remove all paper from the stacker table, then press
Enter. The stacker wheels will return to their operating position and the
display will show operating mode again.
If, after removing the paper, the "JAM IN STACKER" message appears
again, open the top cover and remove any paper inside. Close the top
cover and press Enter to clear the display message.
PROGRAMS FULL --
CLEAR JOB FIRST
You have attempted to save a new job but all 9 memory locations are
already full. Refer under the headings of 4.5 for full details.
USE NEW SETTING?
YES: Enter
This message appears when you have changed a setting but have not
confirmed it by pressing Enter.
Press Enter now to activate your setting or ‚ to stay with your previous
setting.
-- FOLD IS NOT AVAILABLE --
You have tried to set up an "impossible" fold.
For example, you may have tried to set a "Z" fold for a paper length of
100 mm (4"). Such a folded piece would become too small to transport
through the machine and so the internal electronic control system rejects
the request.
