Improper Use

If the Lathe chuck is operated for a purpose other than the intended use as
specified in this Operating manual, this is deemed to be improper use.
Any utilisation beyond the scope of the "intended use" poses risks and is
not approved by RÖHM.
Improper use refers to the following:
▪ Use of defective jaws (e.g. sprockets on base jaw broken off or cracks
in the jaws).
▪ Operation with the wrench inserted.
▪ Manipulation of the wrench (e.g. removal of the safety spring).
▪ Clamping of workpieces when the Lathe chuck is not installed.
▪ The power-operated clamping with an actuating device.
▪ Direct pointing of the coolant spray at guides or lubricating nipples.
▪ Operation without or with insufficiently clamped workpiece.
▪ Clamping of compressible workpieces.
▪ Clamping of workpieces which are too heavy or too long (see document
"RÖHM Standard RN 1391 – General Information and Guidelines for the
Use of Power-Operated Clamping Devices", Basic Principles [} 89]).
▪ Removal of swarf during operation.
▪ Use of the Lathe chuck in potentially explosive atmospheres.
▪ Operation with insufficient maintenance.
▪ Using non-OEM parts as replacement parts.
▪ Use of the Lathe chuck for suspending loads.
▪ Operation outside of the defined operating parameters.
▪ Operation with modifications not approved by the manufacturer.
▪ Operation without effective safety equipment.
▪ Assembly of the Lathe chuck and individual parts with incorrect tighten-
ing torque (see Checking the Tightness of Screw Connections
[} 98]).
▪ The clamping of the Lathe chuck in another chuck.
