5.5 Capacitance measurement

1) Set the range switch (5) to one of the ranges "F".
2) Discharge the capacitor and plug it into the contact
slots "Cx" (2).
3) Read the measuring value on the display. If "1 ." is
displayed in the 20 µF range, the capacitance
exceeds 20 µF or the capacitor has a short circuit.
To avoid an electric stroke, pull the measured capa-
citor out of the unit before changing to another
measuring function.

5.6 Current amplification of transistors

1) Insert the transistor according to its connections (E,
B, C) into the plug-in connections (4). Use the right
socket half for NPN types and the left for PNP
types.
2) Set the range switch (5) to position "hFE".

5.7 Forward voltage of diode
Do not measure in any case within a circuit if it car-
ries a voltage. The meter may be damaged.
A diode should always be measured separately,
otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate. If
necessary, it must be soldered out of the circuit.
1) Connect the red test lead to the red jack "VΩHz"
(10) and the black test lead to the black jack
"COM" (9).
2) Set the range switch (5) to position
3) Hold the cathode of the diode to the black test tip
and the anode to the red test tip.
4) The display shows the forward voltage up to
1.999 V in case of a test current of approx. 1 mA. In
case of silicon diodes the value is around 0.7 V.
In case of a display of approx. 0 V the diode has a
short circuit. Additionally the continuity buzzer
sounds.
In case of the display "1." the diode is interrupted,
connected in reverse direction (change the polarity
of the diode) or the forward voltage exceeds
1.999 V.

5.8 Frequency measurement

The amplitude of the test signal must be between
200 mV and 10 V. If it is higher, the meter may be
damaged. If it is lower, no measurement is possible.
1) Connect the red test lead to the red jack "VΩHz"
(10) and the black test lead to the black jack
"COM" (9).
2) Set the range switch (5) to position "20kHz".
3) Hold the test tips to the corresponding measuring
points. The display shows the frequency in kHz.

5.9 Temperature measurement

1) Set the range switch (5) to position "°C". The dis-
play shows the ambient temperature in °C.

2) Plug the supplied temperature sensor to jack
"TEMP" (6). Hold the sensor at the object to be
measured.
3) When the display value does not change any more,
read the temperature. The measuring range
extends from -20 °C up to +1000 °C.
The temperature measurement is not suitable for
medical applications!
To avoid an electric stroke, pull the temperature
sensor out of the unit before changing to another
measuring function.

6 Replacing of Battery or Fuse

Before opening the unit remove in any case the test
leads from the measuring points of the circuit to
avoid any danger of an electric stroke.
Never use the unit if it is open.
a. If the display shows symbol
must be replaced.
b. If no current measurement is possible except for the
10 A ranges, check the fuse and replace it by a fuse
of the same type (200 mA, quick-acting).
1) Remove the rubber protection frame.
2) Remove the three screws at the rear side of the unit
and take off the lower housing shell.
3) When replacing the battery, observe the correct
polarity, i. e. plug the battery onto the connection
contacts so that the contacts lock into place cor-
rectly.
4) For changing the fuse carefully take the PCB out of
the housing shell.
5) After replacing, close the housing. Only then set the
meter into operation. If required, place the rubber
protection frame.
