Operation
Working Advice
Sharpening Drill Bits (see figure C)
– Pre-sharpen heavily damaged drill bits first using a bench
grinder.
– When the speed of your drill can be regulated, set the
-1
speed to 2000 to 3000 min
On impact drills, set the operating mode to "drilling with-
out impact".
– Hold the switched on drill with the attached drill bit sharp-
ener as shown in the figure.
Pay attention that the ventilation slots of the drill are not
obstructed.
– Sharpening the first cutting edge of the drill bit:
Insert the drill bit into the smallest fitting hole of the drill bit
sharpener. Swiftly twist the drill bit approx. 10 times back
and forth between the left and right stop while applying
light pressure (for small diameter drill bits approx.
5 times).
– Sharpening the second cutting edge of the drill bit:
Pull the drill bit out a little, turn it by 180° and guide it back
in to the grinding wheel 6. Twist the drill bit as described
under sharpening the first cutting edge of the drill bit.
– Repeat the complete procedure as required until both cut-
ting edges are sharp and symmetrical.
Checking and Correcting (see figure D)
The cutting edges S of the drill bit must be uniformly long.
– If not, point the shorter cutting edge toward the inner mark
of the matching hole of the drill bit sharpener.
– Guide in the drill bit in this position and twist it approx.
3 times back and forth from stop to stop.
– Check the result and repeat the procedure as required.
