The EquiAlarm establishes a connection to the GSM network,
yet does not make a call when tested.
• Have the numbers been programmed on the SIM card correctly?
» The numbers must be programmed in slots 11 and 12 of the
SIM. If you have installed a new SIM card, you must switch
the EquiAlarm to programming mode and then (when the
status LED is flashing blue-green) call the device. The Equi-
Alarm will then automatically create the memory locations on
the SIM card and save your number in the first of these.
• Can your own telephone be reached?
» Try to call your own telephone using another.
• Does the provider relate a top-up message prior to the call?
» When your credit is running low or has nearly expired, the call
may be preceded by an automated spoken message from your
provider, as a result of which the call is ultimately not trans-
ferred to your telephone (or is so only very briefly). Top up
your credit using a top-up card or voucher, available from
post offices and supermarkets. You can test this by inserting
the SIM card into your own mobile telephone and calling a
random number. You should then listen to see whether you
hear a top-up message like this prior to the call.
• Is there enough credit?
» If the credit is very low or has been fully used, no further calls
can be made. Top up your credit using a top-up card or
voucher, available from post offices and supermarkets.
I cannot deactivate the EquiAlarm by returning the call:
• Is the voicemail for the EquiAlarm's SIM card switched off?
» If the voicemail service for the SIM card is switched on, it is
possible that this will be activated before the EquiAlarm has
been able to respond itself. You must switch off the voicemail
service on the EquiAlarm's SIM card. Consult the manual or
instructions supplied by the provider of your SIM card (you
will have received these when you purchased your SIM card).
• I t is possible that the EquiAlarm was simply busy calling you
or another number on the SIM card.
» If you have waited a while before calling back, it is possible
that the EquiAlarm was busy making a new call. During this
time, the EquiAlarm is momentarily unable to accept inco-
ming calls.
• It is possible that you have rejected the call via the red button
on your mobile and have called back immediately afterwards.
» Never reject an incoming call from the EquiAlarm with the red
button. Allow your telephone to ring out and do not answer!
Only then may you call back.
I have placed the EquiAlarm on its side to test it, yet it does
not begin calling.
• Has the EquiAlarm recently issued a notification?
» If you are testing the EquiAlarm and have called it back in
order to deactivate it, it must then be returned to lying in a
flat position for approximately one minute before it will start
issuing notifications again. This prevents the EquiAlarm from
continuing to call after having just been deactivated.
It took a few minutes before I was called the first time.
• H ave you just changed numbers on the SIM card, or have
you installed a new SIM?
» If you have programmed the SIM card manually and you have
not done so correctly, the EquiAlarm will itself attempt to
store the numbers you programmed on the SIM card correctly.
The call will be transferred to your telephone more quickly the
next time.
• H ave you installed a new SIM card and not removed the PIN
code?
» If you have not deactivated the PIN code request feature of
the SIM card, the EquiAlarm will itself attempt to deactivate
the PIN. This will only be successful, however, if the PIN code
is "0000".
