measurements must be conformed to.
• The appropriate rules for accident avoidance as well
as other, generally recognized safety rules must be fol-
lowed.
• The machine may only be used, maintained or repaired
by persons who understand the risks involved. Inde-
pendent changes in the machine invalidate the manu-
facturer's guarantees.
• The machine may only be used with original manufac-
turer's accessories and tools.
• The machine should not be exposed to moisture, nor
operated near inflammable liquids or gasses.
• Never use the machine out of doors, when the general
weather or environmental factors do not permit it (for
example in an explosive atmosphere, during a storm or
in the rain).
• Wear appropriate clothing when operating the machine.
Do not wear loose sleeves, neckerchiefs, ties, necklaces
or bracelets which could get caught in the machine.
• Always wear personal protective gear: appropriate pro-
tective glasses, work gloves in the correct size, internal
or external ear protection, and if necessary a hairnet that
covers the hair.
• Pay attention to the electrical lead: it should never be
pulled on to raise the machine or to unplug it. Protect it
from sharp edges, oil and overheating.
• If an extension lead is necessary, use only a tested arti-
cle.
• Protect yourself from electric shocks: avoid contact with
earthed objects such as pipes, radiators and refrigera-
tors.
• Any use aside from that for which the machine was
manufactured is considered inappropriate. For damage
resulting there from the manufacturer can offer no guar-
antee, and the risks from such use are carried solely by
the operator.
m Residual Risks
The machine is constructed according to the highest technical
standards. Still, residual risks remain.
• Heath hazards due to electrical current should inappro-
priate electrical connections be used.
• Residual risks can be minimized when the safety instruc-
tions and the instructions for appropriate use as well as
the operating instructions in general are followed.
• Do not place excessive demands on the machine: too
much pressure when sawing damage the saw blade
quickly which, in turn, leads to a reduction of machine
performance in operation, and a loss of cutting preci-
sion.
• Avoid unintentional start ups of the machine: when the
plug is put in the socket, the operating switch should not
be pressed.

Assembly
Warning: For your own safety, do not connect the machine
to the power source until all the assembly steps have been
carried out and you have read and understood the operating
instructions with all safety and operation information.
Assembling the saw blades
Note: The teeth of the saw must always point down, in or-
der to prevent the material being sawn from rising up.
Removing the saw blades
a) Saw blades without pegs (fig. 1, 12, 13, 14)
• To remove the blade, loosen the blade clamp by lifting
up the quick release clamp lever (2). (fig. 12)
• Unscrew the wing nuts (5) on the upper blade holder
(4). (Fig. 13)
• Tilt the table to 45°. Release the peg screw (9) with the
tshaped wrench below the table, to the left of the lower
blade holder (8) (Fig. 13).
• Remove the blade (1) from the upper (4) and the lower
(8) blade holder by pushing it forward though the open-
ing (6) in the workbench (7) and lifting it up. (Fig. 14)
Note: The six sided bolt (6) on the left side is for fine ad-
justment and is only used when the blade is not positioned
perpendicularly to the workbench (3). (Fig. 13)
b.) Saw blades with pegs (fig. 12, 14)
• In order to remove the blade, release the clamp by lifting
up the quick release lever (2, fig. 12). Tilt the workbench
to 45°, to view the lower blade holder. (fig. 14).
• Push gently outwards on the upper arm in order to re-
move the (1) form the upper blade holder (4+5).
Assembly of the saw blade protector (fig. 2)
• Release the saw blade locking knob (10, fig. 1).
• Push the supporting rod (16) into the supporting flap
(15).
• Tighten the saw blade protector screw (10, fig. 1).
• Put the screw (14) through the hole of the supporting
rod (16) and tighten it.

Body and hand position, fig. 17
1 Symbols for body and hand position (see fig. 17).
Warning: Never place your hands near the cutting area.
Proper positioning of your body and hands when operating the
scroll saw will make cutting easier and safer. Keep children
away. Keep all visitors at a safe distance from the scroll saw.
Make sure bystanders are clear off the saw and worpiece.
Do not force the saw. It will do the job better and safer at its
designated rate.
Assembling the saw on a workbench, fig. 16
• A workbench made of solid wood is more suitable to
mount the saw upon than one made of weaker particle
board, which could be disturbing due to vibration and
noise levels.
• These elements are needed to mount the saw on a work-
bench and are not included in delivery. Use the following
