Start-up

ATTENTION!
Do not leave the device unattended so that you can immediately intervene in the
event of malfunctions (e.g. overfl owing etc.).
Caution: Risk of emitted steam! Never open the water tank cover when the device is
in use! Hot steam or hot splash water may escape.
Before start-up, make sure that the water tank cover is closed and that the milk tank
and the fi lter holder have been correctly inserted.
Never add water to the water tank during the brewing process. You could scald your-
self with the sudden emission of steam.
Never attempt to remove the water or milk tank during the brewing process. Always
turn off the device fi rst and pull the mains plug out of the socket before you add more
water or milk!
Never use the device without water in the water tank. The pump could be damaged if
the device is operated without water.
Never use the milk nozzle if there is no milk or water in the milk tank!
Do not overfi ll the water or milk tank. Observe the corresponding MIN and MAX marks.
Use fi nely ground espresso powder. The grind should approximately correspond to
the size of ground grains of salt. Make sure that the espresso is not too fi nely ground
(e.g. like fl our). Otherwise it will plug the fi lter.
A. Setting up the device
1. Place the device on a fl at, solid and heat-resistant base.
2. Make sure there is adequate space to kitchen cupboards etc.
B. Filling the water tank
1. Take the water tank (13) off of the device and fi ll the water tank with water. Observe
the MIN and MAX marks on the tank.
2. Insert the water tank in the device. Make sure that the water tank cover (1) is correctly
positioned on the water tank.
C. Filling the milk tank
Fill the milk tank (7) if you would like to prepare cappuccino or latte macchiato:
You can use milk of your choice such as whole milk, UHT milk, but also soy milk.
1. Take the milk tank (7) out of the device by gently pulling it up and then out to the front.
2. Pull the milk tank cover (4) off of the milk tank and fi ll the milk tank with cold milk.
Observe the MIN and MAX marks on the tank.
3. Put the milk tank cover (4) back on the milk tank (7).
4. Place the milk tank (7) in the device.
