Functional Check
A DIGITEX is required for these checks.
• Place the DIGITEX directly over the service with the arrows on the lid pointing in the direc-
tion of the service at a distance of at least 10 meters from the DIGICAT.
• Switch it on and ensure 33 kHz mode is selected.
• Ensure that no accessories are plugged into the connect socket.
With the DIGICAT in 8 kHz mode, walk over the test area. Note the following:
• The DIGICAT begins making a sound as you approach the cable.
• That DIGICAT gives a peak response on the bar display when the DIGICAT is directly over
the cable.
• The sound stops as you move away from the peak response position.
Once all these have been done repeat the test with the DIGICAT in 33 kHz mode.
The depth check can be carried out provided the depth of a service on the test area is
known.
• Switch on and ensure the DIGICAT is in 33 kHz mode.
• Position the unit directly over and at right angle to the service.
• Press the depth button on the display panel to activate the depth measurement.
• Record the depth.
• If the depth reading deviates from the normal value or an error code is displayed send
the unit to Leica Geosystems for Service.
If a check is required for the wireless communication then a properly configured receiving
device will be required to verify that the data has been correctly transmitted.
