 Inspect the spark arrestor for breaks or holes. Clean or
replace if necessary.
 Use a brush (not provided) to remove carbon deposits from
the spark arrestor screen as needed.
DRAINING FUEL TANK
See Figures 19 - 20.
To help prevent gum deposits in the fuel system, drain the fuel
from the tank before storing.
 Turn the engine switch OFF ( O ).
 Turn the fuel valve to the OFF (O ) position.
 Remove the fuel line from the hose barb by squeezing the
end of the retaining clip and sliding the fuel line off.
 Place the fuel line with fuel valve in a fuel container large
enough to catch the fuel being drained from the tank.
 Turn the fuel valve to the ON ( l ) position.
 When the fuel has drained from the tank, close the fuel valve
and reinstall fuel line securely on hose barb.
REPLACING FUEL FILTER
See Figure 21.
Occasionally the fuel filter may become clogged and need
to be replaced. To purchase a replacement fuel filter, contact
customer service or a qualified service center.
NOTE: Fuel tank must be empty before replacing fuel filter. Run
unit until tank is empty, if needed, or inspect filter prior to fill-up.
To replace:
 Turn the fuel valve to the OFF ( O ) position.
 Drain the fuel tank completely.
 Remove both fuel lines from the old fuel filter by squeezing
the ends of the retaining clips and sliding the fuel lines off.
 Reinstall fuel lines to the new fuel filter.
 Pull on lines to make sure they are secured
 Turn the fuel valve to the ON ( I ) position.
TRANSPORTING
 Turn the engine switch OFF ( O ).
 Disconnect any equipment that is plugged into the generator.
 Verify the fuel valve is in the OFF ( O ) position.
 Allow 30 minutes of "cool down" time before storing the
machine. Make sure engine and exhaust of unit are cool.
 For security, insert the pins to secure the handles before
transporting.
 Tilt the machine toward you until it balances on the wheels,
then roll the machine to the desired location.
 If transporting in a vehicle, drain the fuel tank, close fuel
valve, and securely restrain the generator.
 Provide a plastic sheet or absorbent pad below the generator
to catch any drips of fuel or lubricant.
CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT
See Figure 22.
The LED indicator light in the control panel will illuminate to indi-
cate a fault in the engine's fuel injection system. Please contact
customer service or a qualified service center for assistance.
MAINTENANCE
CHANGING ENGINE BATTERY CHARGE
CIRCUIT FUSE
See Figure 23.
NOTICE:
Do not use a higher rated fuse other than the specified
amperage. This could cause damage to the product.
 Open the fuse holder.
 Remove the old fuse by pulling straight out.
 Insert new 7 amp ATO blade-type fuse.
 Close cover.
USING THE BATTERY MAINTAINER
See Figure 24.
When storing the generator, the battery maintainer can be
connected to keep the battery fully charged and ready for use.
NOTE: The battery maintainer provided should only be used
with the 12V 15AH/ 20 HR lead acid battery model RT12150
supplied with this generator.
 Connect the battery maintainer to the power supply. Make
sure the power supply is normal household voltage, 120
volts, AC only, 60 Hz.
 Attach the other end of the battery maintainer to the charg-
ing cable attached to the battery. The red light on the plug
will illuminate to show the battery is charging. The battery
will become slightly warm to the touch while charging. This
is normal and does not indicate a problem. When battery is
fully charged, the red light will turn green.
NOTE: If the light does not illuminate, the fuse on the charging
cable may need to be replaced. Check the fuse and replace
if needed.
 Disconnect the battery maintainer before operating the
generator. Place the cover on the charging cable when not
in use.
BATTERY REMOVAL AND PREPARATION
FOR RECYCLING
Consult your local waste authority for information regarding
available recycling and/or disposal options.
WARNING:
Upon removal, cover the battery's terminals with heavy-duty
adhesive tape. Do not attempt to destroy or disassemble
battery or remove any of its components. Lead acid batteries
must be recycled or disposed of properly. Also, never touch
both terminals with metal objects and/or body parts as
short circuit may result. Keep away from children. Failure
to comply with these warnings could result in fire and/or
serious injury.
17 — English
To preserve natural resources, please recycle
or dispose of batteries properly.
This product uses lead acid batteries. Local,
state or federal laws may prohibit disposal of
batteries in ordinary trash.
