1. Recommended accessories

The accessories used with FREELOX must be :
- oxygen compatible,
- bio-compatible,
- conforming to the general requirements of the standard
EN 60601-1 and the directive CEE 93/42,
and must not be antistatic or conductor of electricity.
Hoses, cannula, masks, ... must be specific for oxygen-
therapy.
The maximal length of the hose between the patient and the
stationary canister FREELOX must be inferior to 15 meters
to provide a sufficient oxygen flow rate.
The use of accessories that do not conform to the require-
ments above absolves the manufacturer from responsibility
in the event of an incident.
Accessories given reference numbers by Taema or in-
cluded in the batch of accessories supplied with the appa-
ratus do conform to these requirements.

2. Cleaning and disinfection

2.1. Cleaning
Cleaning is limited to the outside parts of the FREELOX
system.
Important
The use of alcohol, acetone, solvents or any other flamma-
ble product is prohibited.
- For the plastic parts, clean with a cloth or a sponge
moistened, or with cloth impregnated with aqueous alcohol
solution (do not use abrasive powder).
Using an aqueous alcohol solution imposes that canisters
are not operating (selector knob on position 0).
- for the stainless steel stationary canister, use of current
domestic products (ammoniated cream) used with a not
abrasive sponge is suitable Rinse, then leave to dry before
use.
2.2. Disinfection
• By the patient :
Disinfection concerns only the external accessories (hu-
midifier, oxygen inhalation device).
Concerning inhalation device, see manufacturer's recom-
mendations.

III. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Steadily empty the humidifier bottle and the water collecting
bottle, clean them with soapy water, rinse and leave them
to dry.
Note : in case of long period of non use or storage, keep
humidifier bottle and water collecting bottle empty and dry.
• For each new patient :
Humidifier must be sterilized if possible (case of NEBAL
fitted with FREELOX ) or replaced.
The piece of felt (portable) must be replaced by a new one.
The water collecting bottles (plastic bottle for the stationary
& cover for the portable) must be disinfected by immersion
in a disinfecting solution.

3. Travel

3.1. Autonomy
The portable canister allows true autonomy for travel for
several hours (see table below).
Autonomy is given for a 24/24h use in optimum filling
conditions.

3.2. Recommendations
When not in use, the portable canister empties naturally by
evaporation. It is recommended to use the portable canister
after travelling with it in order not to waste oxygen.
The condensation collection tray is equipped with a piece of
felt which must be dried after each use.
Do not carry the portable canister under clothes (jacket,
coat, etc.).
3.3. Travelling by car
For car travel, even for very short distance, only the portable
canister is authorized.
Place the portable canister in the vertical position, sus-
pended from a headrest or strapped to a seatback with a
belt.
Never put the portable canister in the trunk or in an enclosed
area.
Keep a window open and do not allow anyone to smoke.
