>
Close the gas meter isolator device or the main isola-
tor device.
>
If possible, close the gas stop cock on the unit.
>
Warn other occupants in the building by yelling or
banging on doors or walls.
>
Leave the building.
>
If you can actually hear gas leaking, leave the build-
ing immediately and ensure that other persons do not
enter the building.
>
Alert the fire brigade and police when you are outside
the building.
>
Use a telephone outside the building to inform the
emergency service department of the gas supply
company.
Preventing the risk of explosion
>
Do not use or store explosive or easily flammable
substances such as petrol or paint in the same room
as the unit.
>
Do not shut down any safety devices
>
Under no circumstances should you switch off the
atmospheric sensing device (flue gas sensor).
>
Do not carry out any alterations as they may affect
correct operation.
Material damage caused by corrosion
To prevent corrosion in the unit and in the flue gas
installation,
note the following:
>
Do not use sprays, solvents, chlorinated cleaning
agents, paint, adhesives or similar substances in the
vicinity of the unit.
Under unfavourable conditions, these substances may
lead
to corrosion.
Installation and adjustment
Installation of the unit can be only carried out by a qual-
ified specialist tradesman. The existing regulations,
rules and guidelines must be observed when doing so.
He is also responsible for inspection, maintenance and
repairs to the unit and for alterations to the gas volume
setting.
Avoiding a risk of explosion and poisoning
The wrong type of gas may lead to hazardous situa-
tions. High levels of carbon monoxide due to improper
combustion present a danger to life.
>
Before start-up of the unit compare the details con-
cerning the set type of gas on the identification plate
with the type of gas supply at the installation site.
>
Only convert the unit to a different type of gas using
the conversion kits available from the manufacturer.

Do not carry out any modifications
>
Never modify
the unit
the area surrounding the unit
the gas, air and water pipes
the flue gas pipes.
This also applies to alterations to structural elements in
the vicinity of the unit which might affect its operational
safety.
For example:
– Do not obstruct the air inlets and outlets in doors,
ceilings, windows and walls, even temporarily. For
example, never cover any ventilation openings with
items of clothing or similar objects. When installing
floor coverings, the ventilation openings on the under-
sides of the doors must not be closed off or reduced
in size.
– The supply of air to the unit must not be impaired.
Pay particular attention to this when positioning any
cupboards, shelves or similar items underneath the
unit. Enclosing the unit in a cabinet requires observ-
ance of special implementation regulations. Ask your
heating specialist company if you wish to enclose the
unit in this way.
Keep all openings for air and flue gas free. Make sure,
for example, that any temporary covers used when
performing work are removed.
– The units must not be installed in rooms from which
ventilation systems or warm-air heating systems
extract air by means of fans (e.g. extractor hoods,
tumble dryers).
The exception is where safety devices are installed
which automatically shuts off the fans when the gas
fired instantaneous water heater is in operation. For
this purpose, we recommend installing our accessory
Solomatik for MAG (order no. 304 821).
– If installing windows with sealed joints, ensure, in
consultation with a company operating a recognised
competent persons scheme, that a sufficient supply of
combustion air to the unit is maintained.
To make alterations to the unit or to its environment,
you must refer to the company operating a recognised
competent persons scheme who is qualified to do this
work.
Preventing the risk of scalding
In certain circumstances, the water coming out of the
hot water tap may be hot enough to cause scalding. The
temperature threshold at which scalding can occur is
lower for children than for adults.
>
Adjust the hot water temperature so that it is just
sufficient for your needs.
>
Do not use sprays, solvents, chlorinated cleaning
agents, paint, adhesives or similar substances in the
vicinity of the unit. These substances may cause cor-
rosion, including in the flue gas system.
