SYSTEM PREPARATION
SUPPLY PLUMBING
The infrared burner supply plumbing contains one orifice
that will cause inefficient operation if it becomes clogged or
restricted. Follow these steps to remove the blockage.
1. Remove the assembly.
2. Loosen the airflow washer and lock nut located on the unit.
3. Unscrew the orifice from the end and visually inspect the
orifice diameter. Ream with a #77 orifice drill if necessary.
DO NOT increase orifice diameter.

4. Visually inspect air inspirator and remove any blockages
with compressed air.
5. Reassemble with a minimum of 3/32" gap at air inlet
washer. When fastening the unions to the infrared
castings, use a very thin layer of PTFE pipe joint compound
on the tapered sealing surfaces on the connections. Be
sure not to overdo it, keeping any excess compound from
falling into the casting. Be sure the union connections are
tight, as even a small leak can cause improper burning.
6. If this procedure does not resolve the problem, please
contact technical service.

INFRARED BURNER REPAIR AND
MAINTENANCE
Should excessive carbon be formed within the
i
burner, the housing must be cleaned. Proper
cleaning methods require disassembly of the
manifold and plumbing supply to the burner
castings.
1. Shut off the main gas supply at the tank. Open the infrared
LPG gas valve.
2. Disconnect the copper tubing nut behind the LPG gas
valves, then disconnect the two pipe unions on top of the
burner castings.
3. Remove the plumbing and manifold as an assembly.
4. Be sure the burner castings are fully cooled, then using an
air hose blast compressed air into the open neck of each
burner. If excessive carbon is evident the burners must be
removed from their mount and turned upside down.
5. Blow air from the refractory side while shaking to remove
all loose particles. It is possible that the deflector plate
has disintegrated and the entire burner casting must be
replaced.
