Aperture settings
Three aperture selections (OPEN, CLOSE, and PROG in some flash
modes) are provided on this camera. Normally use OPEN, but depending
on the strobe to be used, CLOSE may yield better results. PROG
(Program) automatically selects the appropriate aperture setting, OPEN or
CLOSE.
For details, see "Functions and Operation of the Built-in Strobe."
White-balance settings
If only the built-in strobe is used, AUTO is recommended for the white
balance.
If the flash mode is set to
E or
E or AUTO/MAN mode selection is
set to MAN or an external strobe is used, appropriate white-balance
selection is required. A lower value makes the picture more bluish, while
a higher value makes it more yellowish.
For details, see "Shooting Examples."
Optimum distance between the subject and lens
When you take a picture using a guideline displayed on the LCD, the
optimum distance between the subject and lens differs according to the
type of guideline and the zoom position. Assuming you take a picture of a
face of 24 centimeters from the top of the head to the chin, the optimum
distance and the face size that will appear on the printout are shown below.
