In intermittent traction , the traction force has to be
set first, followed by the base force.
Changeover from static to intermittent traction
To change from static to intermittent traction, addi-
tionally the base force parameter must be set and, if
required, the hold times (traction force and base
force) and the changeover speed.
Changeover from intermittent to static traction
To change from intermittent to static traction during
treatment, it is sufficient to set the base force to the
same value as the traction force. The ELTRAC 471
will automatically switch to static traction after 10
seconds.
Termination of treatment
a. automatically at the end of the treatment time,
b. by pressing the start/stop push-button,
c. by pressing the patient stop switch.

5.4. Operating sequence example

As the operating sequence is dependent on the
therapy and accessories employed, only one exam-
ple is given.
Requirements
ELTRAC 471 and traction table
Pelvic belt
Thoracic belt
Flexistool
Adjustable traction guide
Fixation clamps (2x)
Fixation straps (2x)
a. Slide the rolling traction section of the table up
against the head section, and lock it in position.
b. Lay the pelvic belt against the cranial edge of
the traction section.
c. Lay the thoracic belt against the caudal edge of
the head section.
d. Slide the two fixation clamps into the tube under-
neath the head section.
e. Fit the fixation straps to the fixation clamps.
f. Adjust the fixation straps to length so that when
they are stretched out, the thoracic belt still lies
against the caudal edge of the head section.
g. Place the patient in position, and fasten the belts.
h. Attach the cord of the ELTRAC 471 to the pelvic
clamps.
i. Give the patient stop switch to the patient and
explain its operation.
j. Set the treatment time and, if desired, also the
other parameters .
k. Release the rolling traction section.
l. Start the treatment.
m. Set the other parameters (see item j.).
CHAPTER 6 - MAINTENANCE (BY THE

6.1. Technical maintenance

The ground connection of this equipment (by means
of the mains cord) is important because of the safety
provisions. Therefore it is essential that this connec-
tion is checked annually. A complete check up is
recommended annually. This may be done by your
supplier, or by another agency, authorised by the
manufacturer. It is also recommended that a record
of the service history is kept for all activities relating
to service and maintenance. In some countries this
is even obligatory.
Maintenance and all repairs should only be carried
out by an authorised agency. The manufacturer will
not be held responsible for the results of mainte-
nance or repairs by unauthorised persons.
The check up and/or technical maintenance must
be carried out conform the procedure described in
the service manual of the unit.
Opening of the equipment by unauthorised agen-
cies is not allowed and will terminate any claim to
warranty.

6.2. Cleaning of the apparatus

Switch off the unit and disconnect it from the mains
supply. The apparatus can be cleaned with a damp
cloth. Use lukewarm water and a non-abrasive liquid
household cleaner (no abrasive, no alcohol content
solution).

6.3. Nylon cord

The nylon cord should be regularly checked for dam-
age and wear. For replacement please contact your
local supplier.

6.4. Patient stop switch

The patient stop switch must be disinfected using a
cloth moistened with 70% alcohol.

6.5. Environment information

Your ELTRAC 471 contains materials which can be
recycled and/or are noxious for the environment. At
the end of the duration of life, specialised concerns
can take apart the ELTRAC 471 and sort out the
noxious materials and materials for recycling. By
doing so you contribute to a better environment.
Please ensure that you are well informed of the
local rules and regulations regarding to the re-
moval of equipment and accessories.
