Maintenance
CAUTION
!
Never use solvents such as acetone, alcohol, etc. to clean the
facepiece. Only use the cleaning agents and disinfectants
listed below.
Excessive dosing and overlong exposure times that deviate
from the specifications described here or from the
specifications of the manufacturer of the cleaning and
disinfection agent, can cause damage to the breathing
connection, e. g. the visor can become brittle.
Do not use a cloth to clean or dry the inside of facepieces with
visors that are marked "PCaf", as the coating can be
damaged as a result. After drying, these facepieces should be
aired unpacked for at least one day under standard climatic
conditions according to DIN EN ISO 291, so that the coating
can regenerate and the optimum working life is achieved.
Clean and disinfect the facepiece as follows:
1. Remove any accessories from the facepiece and clean them
1)
separately
.
2. Prepare a cleaning solution with Neutral Disinfectant Cleaner
according to the specification of ECOLAB
3. Immerse the facepiece in the solution. Make sure that all parts are
wetted. For information about the duration, please refer to the
®
specification of ECOLAB
4. Remove the cleaning solution completely under running water.
5. Leave the facepiece to dry completely in a drying cabinet or in the
open air (max. drying temperature: 140 °F/60 °C).
Do not expose to direct sunlight. Do not shake the facepiece in
order to remove water.

Leak tests

The leak test should be performed with an appropriate test device
(e. g. the Testor or Quaestor series
NOTICE

When testing facepieces sized L or S, place the facepiece
carefully on the test head sized M, since the face seal is not
optimally sealed at times. Moistening the face seal facilitates
exact donning because the facepiece can slide better on the
rubber test head.
(1) Checking leak tightness
1. Moisten the face seal and exhalation valve with water.
2. Mount the facepiece on the test head.
3. Make sure that the face seal fits tightly onto all parts of the test
head. Inflate the test head, if necessary.
4. Seal the connector with the test adapter and produce a negative
pressure of 10 mbar (approx. 10 cm H
The facepiece is considered leak-tight if the pressure drop is less than
1 mbar per minute. If the facepiece is leaky, continue with (2).
(2) Test with sealed exhalation valve
1. Remove exhalation valve.
2. Plug in the exhalation valve test plug.
3. Generate a negative pressure of 10 mbar (approx. 10 cm H
4. If the pressure drop is less than 1 mbar (approx. 1 cm H
minute, remove the exhalation valve test plug and insert a new
valve disc.
5. Repeat the leak test (1). If the facepiece is leaky, continue with (3).
(3) Leak test under water
1. Immerse the test head including the facepiece with exhalation
valve test plug in the water.
2. Produce a positive pressure of approx. 10 mbar (approx. 10 cm
