13 PROBLEM SOLVING, CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS
Problem
The machine does not turn on.
The pump is very noisy.
Coff ee is too cold.
The milk does not froth.
The coff ee is brewed too fast, crema
does not form.
Coff ee is not brewed or brewed in
drips only.
Coff ee fl ows out of the edges.
Please contact an authorised service centre for any problems not covered in the above table or when the suggested
solutions do not solve the problem.
Possible Causes
The machine is not connected to the
electric network.
No water in the tank (section 4.3).
The light (17) was off when the button
(4) was pressed.
The fi lter holder is not inserted for pre-
heating (sections 6.1-6.2)
Not suitable milk.
There is too little coff ee in the fi lter
holder.
The grind is too coarse.
Coff ee is old or not suitable.
No water.
The grind is too fi ne.
Coff ee tamped in the fi lter holder.
There is too much coff ee in the fi lter
holder.
The "hot water/steam" knob (6) is
open.
The machine has limescale build-up.
The upper fi lter is clogged.
The fi lter in the fi lter holder is clogged. Clean the fi lter (section 10).
The fi lter holder is incorrectly inserted
in the brew unit.
The upper rim of the fi lter holder is
dirty.
The gasket of the boiler is dirty or
worn.
There is too much coff ee in the fi lter
holder.
Solution
Connect the machine to the electric network.
Refi ll with water.
Wait until the light turns on.
Preheat the fi lter holder.
Check the fat content.
Add coff ee (sections 6.1 - 6.2).
Change the degree of grind (section 5).
Use a diff erent blend (section 7).
Refi ll with water (section 4.3).
Change the degree of grind (section 5).
Shake the ground coff ee.
Reduce the quantity of coff ee using the measur-
ing scoop.
Close the knob.
Descale the machine (section 11).
Clean the fi lter element.
Insert the fi lter holder correctly (sections 6.1 -
6.2).
Clean the rim of the fi lter holder.
Clean or replace the gasket.
Reduce the quantity of coff ee using the measur-
ing scoop.
