For transmitters rated at a maximum output power not listed above, the recommended separation distance d in
meters (m) can be estimated using the equation applicable to the frequency of the transmitter, where P is the maxi-
mum output rating of the transmitter in watts (W) according to the transmitter manufacturer.
NOTE 1 At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the separation distance for the higher frequency range applies.
NOTE 2 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and
reflection from structures, objects and people.

19. Troubleshooting

Problem
DPA is not revolving.
Excessive noise or vibration during operation.
Optional Wireless Foot pedal does not charge.
System intermittently shuts down.

Solution
1. Ensure the outer sheath and the DPA are snapped together
securely.
2. Ensure that the cordless handpiece inner module and the
outer sheath are snapped together securely.
3. Verify the cordless handpiece is powered up and properly
charged. If the cordless handpiece lights do not illuminate,
place the cordless handpiece in the charging base for
cordless handpiece for a minimum of 5 seconds, and then
remove it to use.
4. If using an optional wireless foot pedal and it is not plugged
into the Nupro Freedom Power Supply, make sure that the
foot pedal is not off or discharged (see section 10). Or, you
may plug the optional wireless foot pedal into the Nupro
Freedom Power Supply and the wireless foot pedal will
operate via the power supply. Then (with the foot pedal
powered) confirm that the foot pedal is synchronized to the
cordless handpiece by synchronizing them (see section 11).
The optional wireless foot pedal will operate while charging.
5. Ensure the DPA is not damaged by removing the DPA and
spinning the cup between your fingers. The cup should spin
freely.
6. Ensure that the outer sheath is not damaged by removing
the cordless handpiece inner module from the outer sheath,
leaving the DPA connected, and spinning the DPA cup
between your fingers. The cup should spin freely. If the
cup does not spin freely, place 1-2 drops of an FDA-cleared
lubricant into the outer sheath nose and try to spin again.
If the cup still does not spin freely, call Technical Support.
If lubricant is applied, the outer sheath must be sterilized
prior to use. Follow sterilization instructions in Section 8
(Infection Control Procedures).
7. If DPA still does not spin freely, remove the outer sheath
from the cordless handpiece inner module and verify the
cordless handpiece inner module motor spins when the
optional wireless foot pedal is depressed. If the cordless
handpiece inner module motor does not spin, resynchronize
the optional wireless foot pedal with the cordless handpiece
inner module as per instructions contained in this manual.
8. Resynchronize the units. See Section 11 Synchronizing the
Cordless Handpiece and Optional Wireless Foot Pedal. If
the synchronization is not successful and/or the cordless
handpiece still does not spin, call Technical Support.
1. Ensure that the outer sheath is aligned correctly with the
cordless handpiece inner module.
2. Try a new disposable prophy angle (DPA).
3. Check the components for gross debris or contamination
and adhere to all infection control procedures.
4. Check for damaged, worn or broken components.
5. Call Technical Support.
1. Ensure that the power cord is securely attached to the wall
outlet and the optional wireless foot pedal.
2. Remove the optional wireless foot pedal access door and
look in the compartment; ensure that the LED in the bottom
compartment is illuminated. If not, call Technical Support.
1. Handpiece may shutdown in the presence of strong
non-compliant Radio Frequency generating components
(interference).
2. Call Technical Support.
