8. Preparation Instructions:

General Preparation Information
The general metal ceramic preparation regulations apply to the fabrication of electroformed crowns
and bridges. In order for the fabrication of esthetic dentures to be possible, the ceramic space
required must be at least 1 mm. Practical experience has shown that a pronounced chamfer with
rounded edges works well in the electroplating procedure. This gives the ceramic a supporting
function. The preparation should follow the anatomy of the natural tooth. Please avoid sharp edges
or a preparation that is too conical. It is essential to correct areas of unevenness and edges while
preparing the die. The surface must be smooth, otherwise it will not be possible to electroplate it
cleanly. The cavity angle should be about 6° for inlays. The preparation depth is about 2 mm.

Temporary Seating
As a general rule, temporary seating of electroformed crowns and bridges is not recommended. The
excellent fit of electroformed crowns would force the dentist to remove the provisionally cemented
crowns with the aid of a claw. This generally results in the crown margin or ceramic being destroyed.
Cementation
All conventional cements (glass ionomer cement, zinc phosphate cement) can be used for luting.
DeguDent recommends the cement Dentsply Dyract
