9. Dental Procedure:

Impression
• The dental impression must be taken as precisely as possible. A clearly defined preparation
margin lays the foundation for later success.
Model Fabrication
• The master model can be fabricated in the usual way with any conventional model system after
the dental impression has been taken.
Die Preparation
• Uneven parts of the die must be blocked out with plastic or blockout wax.
• Because of problems associated with sharp edges in electroforming, all right angles and acute
angles must be rounded off or blocked out.
• The preparation limit of the single die is marked and later sealed with a die hardener.
• An interspace varnish is then applied, which serves as a spacer for the cement.
Duplication
• The prepared single die is fixed in a duplicating flask. The die is stirred under vacuum at a 1:1
ratio and duplicated with Deguform
• Let the silicone cure well (at least 45 minutes).
Fabricating the Duplicate Die
• The duplicating mold is injected with Waxit
• After a brief reaction time, blow the silicone mold thoroughly dry.
• Type IV gypsum (e.g. Picodent 280) is mixed according to the manufacturer's instructions and
a vibrator is used to cast it into the duplicating mold. Please do not use any plastic-stabilized
plaster.
• After the plaster has set, remove the duplicate die from the duplicating mold.
• Grind and round off the plaster die until it is small enough for there to be room under the
preparation limit to drill a borehole 2 mm in diameter.
• A 3 mm deep hole with 2.0 mm diameter is drilled under the preparation limit with a cutter
