12. TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

In order to maintain the machine in a permanent technical efficient and working condition, it is
necessary to service the machine each time before using it. It includes the following:
• Performing exterior check;
• Checking the fixing security of slicing blades;
• Cleaning the machine.
The exterior check includes cable test, integrity of security fencing test.
Integrity of cutting tool is inspected visually, and its fastening is inspected using the wrenches
included in package set.
Cleaning includes removing dust, cuttings, wood particles with a brush or a vacuum cleaner
from the machine surface.
12.1 Mounting and adjustment of planing knives
Adjustment is provided by sequential mounting of each knife.
First, release knife 64 by loosening clamping screws 61 to free movement (figure 14) using
hexagon wrench 57.
Adjust the knives 64 by screwing/unscrewing the screws 62 with hexagon wrench 58 so that
the tip of a knife slightly touches straight-edge rule A mounted on planing table 24 (fig. 15).
Secure the knife by tightening clamping screws 61. After final tightening the screws, check the
correctness of knife mounting and, if necessary, repeat knife mounting.
The correctly mounted knives should slightly (up to 0.1 mm) touch the lower edge of straight-
edge rule A (figure 15) with cutting edge when turning cutter block.
