Adjust the gear wheel compensation holder and
the gear wheel shaft so that the gear wheels
move with a small amount of play. Now tighten
the fastening nuts on the gear wheel
compensating holder (d) against (Fig. 15).
Important: The cover of the gear wheel box
(Figure 13 / Item 29) must be fitted in order to be
able to switch on the equipment.
5.8 Adjusting the tailstock (Fig. 19)
The tailstock (17) can be moved backwards and
forwards on the lathe bed (15).
To do this undo the lever for the tailstock
adjustment (18) and slide the tailstock (17) to the
required position.
Then tighten the lever for the tailstock adjustment
(18) again.
5.9 Fitting/Removing/Adjusting the quill
(Fig. 19-20)
The quill (20) holds the centering tip (21) which is
used to clamp and hold long workpieces. The quill
(20) can be moved forwards and backwards using the
crank handle (16). The clamp lever (19) can be used
to secure the quill (20) in the required position.
The rear of the centering tip (21) is conical and is held
in the quill (20) by clamping. To remove the centering
tip (21) release the clamp lever (19) and crank the
quill (20) as far to the rear as possible using the crank
handle (16). This pushes the centering tip (21) out of
its clamped position so that it can be removed.
Place the centering tip (21) in the quill (20) to fit it.
When the workpiece is clamped it will automatically
be secured in the quill (20).
A drill bit with an appropriate taper can be fitted in the
quill (20) instead of the centering pin (21), for
example for preparing a workpiece for internal
turning. There is a scale on the quill (20) which
indicates how deeply you are drilling into the
workpiece.
5.10 Three-jaw chuck safety guard
(Fig. 2/Item 37)
The safety guard on the three-jaw chuck (37) is
designed to protect the user and must be closed at all
times during operation. If the safety guard (37) is
open, it will not be possible to switch on the
equipment since the safety switch (Fig. 2 / Item 33)
on the rear is not actuated.

5.11 Cranks for transverse and hand feed
(Fig. 1/Item 8 and 12)
During lathe operation the turning tool is guided along
the workpiece using the cranks for transverse and
hand feed. There are scale rings on both cranks
which can be set to 0 when the turning tool touches
the workpiece so that the depth of the turning tool cut
can be measured.
To set the scale rings to 0, undo the grub screws in
the scale rings, turn them to 0 and then tighten the
grub screws again.
6. Operation
6.1 Switching the equipment ON/OFF (Fig. 21)
6.1.1 Switching the equipment ON
It is imperative that you proceed in the following order
to switch on the lathe.
First close the safety guard (37) over the three-
jaw chuck (27) (see point 5.10).
The speed controller (1) must initially be set to
zero each time the equipment is switched on or
each time the direction is changed (mark right at
the bottom).
Now select the correct direction using the
direction selector switch (2) (L = anti-clockwise /
R = clockwise).
Make sure that the emergency off switch is
screwed out.
The equipment can now be started by moving the
speed selector switch (1).
6.1.2 Switching the equipment OFF
To switch off the speed control (1), turn it to "zero
position".
Emergency Stop function
To switch off the machine quickly and easily, for
example in case of an emergency, press the
emergency off switch (Figure 21 / Item 3). To be able
to restart the equipment, the emergency off switch
must be screwed out again.
Important:
It is essential that you wait until the equipment has
reached a standstill before you change direction
since otherwise the equipment may be damaged. If
you work at high speed, the speed should be reduced
before the equipment is switched on so as not to
overload the equipment's drive unit.
The controller will shut down automatically if the
equipment is overloaded or jammed.
