6.4.5 Recessing, cropping
For recessing and cropping, the turning tool moves
towards the center of the workpiece axis. A recessing
turning tool is used for recessing and a cropping
turning tool for cropping.
Important:
Ensure that the turning tool is set precisely to the
center for longitudinal, transverse and internal
turning, recessing and cropping.
6.4.6 Conical turning (Fig. 26 - 27)
Conical turning is carried out by adjusting the cross
slide (7). In this case the cross slide turns around its
axis after the setting screws (A) have been undone
(Fig. 27). The degree division of the cone is made
using the scale for conical turning (9).
After the cross slide has been adjusted correctly (Fig.
28), the setting screws (A) must be retightened.
6.4.7 Thread turning (Fig. 28)
Thread turning is carried out using a special thread
turning tool. This is precisely clamped perpendicular
to the workpiece axis. This is best done using a lathe
tool gage (Fig. 29/Item A). The feed for thread turning
is controlled by the leadscrew (13) and must
correspond to the thread pitch. The appropriate feed
speed is set by selecting the correct gear wheels (see
point 5.7.2).
Important:
Use a low speed and good lubrication for thread
turning. The feed lock (10) must not be opened or the
workpiece removed from the jaw chuck during thread
tapping and between the various cutting operations
required for thread turning.

7. Cleaning, maintenance and ordering
of spare parts
Always pull out the mains power plug before starting
any cleaning work.
7.1 Cleaning
We recommend that you clean the equipment
after you use it.
Remove the chips using a hand brush or
paintbrush.
Remove dirt, lubricant and oil residue using a
cotton cloth.
Never use compressed air for cleaning purposes.
Oil bare metal parts with acid-free lubricating oil
after they have been cleaned.
7.2 Changing the drive belt (Fig. 29 - 32)
The drive belt is a wearing part and must be changed
when necessary. First of all remove the cover on the
gear wheel box (29) and the gear wheels (see point
5.7.2). Then undo the two holding screws (Fig. 29/
Item A) and take off the gearbox plate (Fig. 30/
Item B).
Take the drive belt off the top gear wheel whilst
turning it and then pull it off the motor shaft (Fig. 31 –
32). Install it in reverse order.
Important:
Switch off the equipment and pull the mains plug
before you change the toothed belt.
7.3. Changing the equipment fuse
(Fig. 21 / Item B)
Important. Switch the equipment off and unplug the
power plug.
If the lathe fails to work, check the fuse in the fuse
holder (B) and replace with a fuse with the same
nominal rating if necessary.
7.4 Adjusting the slide play
If the slides have too much play in their guide, you
can adjust this using the locked grub screws on the
side of the slides.
7.5 Carbon brushes
In case of excessive sparking, have the carbon
brushes checked only by a qualified electrician.
Important. The carbon brushes should not be
replaced by anyone but a qualified electrician.
