Safety instructions
The operations must be carried
a
out by electrical suitably trained
persons in hazardous area with
knowledge of increased safety explosion
protection EN/IEC 60079-14.
The transformer is not suitable for Zone 0
and 20 hazardous areas.
The electrical connection of the device may
only be carried out by trained electric staff.
When connecting the minimum wire cross
section shall be in acc. with EN 60204-1.
The temperature class and explosion group
marked on the apparatus shall be observed.
The permissible ambient temperature, the
terminal cross section and the self-heating
of the apparatus, that is mainly caused by
the power dissipation are to be observed to
ensure that the temperature class stated on
the type label of the apparatus is main-
tained. (Test criterion for the self-heating is
an overload of 10%).
The temperature class of the complete
installation or distribution is determined by
the power dissipation of all built-in modules
and components.
The maximum winding temperature of 110 °C
must not be exceeded.
The national safety rules and regulations for
the prevention of accidents, as well as the
safety instruction included in these
operating instructions, that, like this text,
are set in italics, shall be observed.

Conformity with standards
The transformers meet the requirements listed
in the attestation of conformity, enclosed
separately.
References to standards and directives in these
operating instructions always relate to the latest
version. Other additions (e.g. details relating to
the year) shall be observed.

Field of application
The transformer may be built into enclo-
sures in the type of protection "increased
safety" . When built into these
Ex e enclosures, the modules are suited for
use in both Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous
areas in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-10-1.
The enclosures must have minimum type of
protection IP 54.
A practical corrosion protection must be
guaranteed by the used housing.
5
Application / Properties
The Ex-e transformer is used to adapt the
supply voltage for electrical control panel
an circuits.
The data according to sections 3 and 4 shall
be taken into account during use.
During operation the instructions stated in
section 7 of the operating instructions shall
be observed.
The sole responsibility with respect to the
suitability and proper use of these modules
lies with the operator.
