7. Clean the grinder shaft on the inside with the cleaning brush supplied (9) (Picture
C2).
8. After cleaning, press the locking button and slide the lid back onto the grinder shaft.
It must click audibly into place.
9. Clean the permanent fi lter or dispose of the basket fi lter paper.
Changing the Activated Carbon Filter (Picture D)
The water tank (13) contains an activated carbon fi lter (7) that is intended to protect the
device from limescale deposits. This activated carbon fi lter should be replaced after
around 70 brewing processes or during descaling (see the "Cleaning and Care" chapter |
"Descaling").
1. Flip open the water tank lid (11).
2. Remove the holder for the activated carbon fi lter (8) from the water tank.
3. Open up the fl ap on the holder and remove the old activated carbon fi lter.
4. Clean the holder for the activated carbon fi lter if necessary.
5. Take a new activated carbon fi lter out of its packaging and rinse it thoroughly under
running water to remove any possible production residues.
6. Place the new activated carbon fi lter into the holder and then close the fl ap again.
7. Insert the holder for the activated carbon fi lter back into the recess provided for it in
the water tank.

Descaling
Limescale deposits have an adverse effect not only on the quality of the coffee and
the water, but they also cause power losses and shorten the lifespan of the device.
The thicker a limescale layer is, the more diffi cult it is to remove.
We therefore recommend
accordance with the water quality in your area and how often the device is used (approx.
every 2 – 6 weeks).
The fi rst indications that descaling is required are a large amount of steam being produced
and slower brewing of the coffee.
For descaling we recommend the BEEM premium descaler concentrate. The effi cient,
food-safe and environmentally friendly BEEM premium descaler concentrate is avail-
able from selected specialist stockists, via our website www.beem.de or from our
customer service department on request.
