especially when cutting long grass. This will
keep the machine operating at a high speed
and will greatly improve the cutting efficiency
of the trimmer.
When cutting near fences, walls, flower beds,
etc. use the edge of the guard as a guide – this
will save damage to structures and plants (see
Fig. 18 and 19).
Allow a minimum of 5 seconds or more for the
trimmer head to stop rotating. DO NOT invert
the trimmer or place hands under the guard
until the trimmer head has stopped spinning.

2) Line Feeding
The trimmer uses 0.065" (1.65 mm) diameter,
round nylon line to cut grass and weeds
quickly and easily. During use, the tip of the
nylon line will get shorter due to wear. Gently
bump the cutting head on the ground and the
line will feed out. The cutting line will wear
faster and require more feeding if the cutting
or edging is done along sidewalks or other
abrasive surfaces or when heavier weeds are
being cut (see Fig 20).
3) Clearing Jams and Tangled Lines
From time to time, especially when cutting thick
grass or weeds, the cutting head may become
clogged or the line may become jammed. To
clear the jam, proceed as follows:
a) Unplug the trimmer
b) Press the release tabs on the side of the
cutting head to remove the spool cover.
c) Remove the spool and remove any debris or
broken line.
d) Unwrap about 1 foot (30cm) of line to ensure
the line is not damaged or tangled. Remove any
damaged line and wrap the line back onto the
spool (see Step 4 "Replacing the Cutting Line"
for instructions on replacing the spool).
e) Ensure the spring is in place on the cutting
head and lower the spool onto the cutting
head.
f) Snap the spool head cover back onto the
trimmer head.

4) Replacing the Cutting Line
Always unplug the trimmer before carrying out
any maintenance.
a) To replace the nylon line, first remove the
spool cover from the spool holder by pushing
down on the centre of the spool and at the
same time firmly pressing the two spool cover
opening buttons on the side of the cutter head.
Remove the spool cover and remove the spool
(see Fig. 21 and 22)
